This is one of our absolute favorite quotes!
If you find yourself having a tough time with your dog, try to empathize and imagine how things may feel from their perspective. Most of the time you’ll notice that the dog is having a problem internally, and it’s not about us. As frustrating as it may be sometimes, just know that your dog is not trying to “give” you a problem, they’re having a problem.

MEET THE CLIENT:
This post has been a long time coming!
This here is Zola, and her amazing humans Vivek and Jordan. We started our journey together in July of 2022 after Vivek and Jordan had recently adopted Zola and quickly noticed some underlying anxiety starting to surface. They have been incredible in their commitment to Zola, doing everything in their power to help guide her through her anxiety. Needless to say, Vivek, Jordan and Zola have come an incredibly long way, and session after session I leave impressed with their growth. Sometimes I like to think they continue doing sessions because they’ve fallen in love with dog training, and what fantastic trainers they’ve become. I couldn’t be more proud as their coach.
Whenever you’re feeling frustrated or overwhelmed with your dog, just remember…your dog can’t do it alone!

Some flicks from todays session with and Anubis! Here, we’re teaching Anubis a “place” command, so that we can use it as a foundation for better manners at the front door!

Who would’ve thought Wednesday could look this happy?
Having good engagement with your dog is not a given, it is earned. Unfortunately, there is no way around that, and it’s impossible to achieve without being focused and engaged with the dog yourself. It’s relatively easy to get a dog to be obedient (and also disengaged), but the real flex is when the dog is happily attentive to you (and also obedient)!
