NC500 Roadtrip
For those wanting to follow my roadtrip around the Scottish Highlands
2410 miles and we're back to where it all started. Scotland has been amazing. Hope you enjoyed the journey with us 🏴❤️
Not going to promise there won't be more photos crop up occasionally 🤦
How I entertained myself for the last few miles of a 10.5 hour journey
Time for some family birthday shenanigans with "The Legend"
For some reason this didn't post.
First stop today (before Scarborough) was the very beautiful Whitby. I found me a pirate 🦜
We decided to keep on the coast road and go to Skegness. Why not, it's a place and it will be fun....NO...no it was not!! Very quick wee stop and a speedy exit. Not for me thank you. Take me back to the Highlands
❤️I did get to see 4 red arrows fly over so that was a bonus ❤️
Onto the last destination...see you soon Bro ❤️
Next stop Scarborough....or rather let's just drive thru because even more people!!
Then the landscape started to change alot, until we hit the Humber Bridge.
The old and the new....
How I entertain myself on a really long journey.....😂☀️❤️
We are back in England. Finally got to our bed for the night...and it's another gorgeous place ❤️ Had a yummy Indian meal just down the road, and calculated that the miles to date are 1868.
Tomorrow is set to be another long one as we bounce down the coastline to our destination. I'm not quite ready to get back on motorways just yet! ❤️ Thanks to everyone who has been following so far X
Next stop......STUNNING!!!
The Kelpies. Magnificent in size and beauty. Worth the 160 mile journey ❤️❤️❤️ It was all downhill as heading back to England for the next leg of our roadtrip. Bed is another 130 miles away....😴
Loving life ❤️
Blue blue blue and dolphins ❤️❤️
Another beautiful morning heading out of Findhorn to see some seals and dolphins. And we did!!! ❤️❤️ 🐬 So graceful and cheeky buggers....film them they do nothing, turn the camera off and they're jumping and twisting and splashing🤦🤦
The ugly looking building at the end is a Maltings and produces enough malt to make 100 million bottles of Whisky so the locals forgive them for its appearance
Brilliant brilliant two hour trip. Buzzing that I finally got to see real life in the wild dolphins
There may be a video or two to follow ❤️
When satnav says 16 miles till your destination but will take 54 minutes. Surprise ferry ride! The yellow things were heading out to sea and will be sunk for wind turbines to be fixed to. Absolutely HUGE and fascinating to watch
Air B&B with the perfect hosts! Dinner cooked by private chef and finally a customer in the Bealzers Bar ❤️❤️
Beautiful stop at Chanonry Point to see some dolphins. We saw 12 but camera wasn't fast enough. Blue skies still shining ❤️
Today we headed towards civilization...but first a stop to see the Mermaid of the North ❤️
Train spotters R us!
Look at that sky tho ❤️
You're welcome 😁
That crept up on me a bit quick. Another day ending. Must be time for Gin 🍹
And then on to our next home for the night and what an absolute beauty....
First class ❤️
And doubly excited because I finally have a Scotch Pie for my tea later 😋🏴
Then a quick stop at Dunrobin Castle
Note to self: don't climb up things to take photos without first working out how to get back down 🤦
Then we moved on to Brora Beach. Scotland you certainly know how to do beaches. Soft sand, blue waters, sunny skies. ❤️❤️❤️
Day 7: More beautiful blue skies, where you can't tell where the sky ends and the sea begins ❤️ Took a little detour and stumbled upon Lybster Harbour, just in time to watch the Lobster man come in with his catch. Absolutely stunning little find
Tonight's sunset will be brought to you by Edinburgh Gin and Mackie's crisps.....and alot of cloud 🤦
Stopped at Annie's Bakery because I had been following their page for months. It all looked so good. But they are closed on a Monday. Absolute gem let me pre book an order for a takeaway collection 😋❤️ oh my!
The pig is a Raspberry fondant, the chicken is a Pineapple fondant, a carrot muffin, chocolate orange millionaires slice and walnut and pecan slices. If anyone needs me I'll be in a diabetic coma on the beach somewhere 😂😂
Accomodation for tonight is lush. We are a stone's throw away from the JOG sign ❤️ and set for another sunset with a sea view ☀️ (midgies beware...I come bearing spray tonight!!!)
Total miles to date: 1357
And then we went to John O Groats ❤️❤️ Obviously had to have the obligatory photo. Then up to Duncansby Head lighthouse, which is the most north easterly point of Great Britain. Amazing to be standing right on the edge of the island 🏝️ Sun was shining, but was a tad windy 😂
Then onto Thurso....which was lovely, except Scotland closes on a Monday 🤦 We also had a bit of road rage on the way 🐂
Day 6: Started with a glorious walk along another beautiful beach. Thank you Jocelyn for the recommendation ❤️❤️ Place to ourselves at 9am apart from a couple of surfers. Sandy toes and Salty kisses 😍
Morning has broken with a wee visitor ❤️ And a thousand midgies 😂🤦
