I put all of the models in my collection up for sale. There was no interest from anyone in buying them. That’s ok but I am out of money to keep going. Since no one is interested in any of these cars I am going to begin recycling them by disassembling them and putting the parts into new builds. Don’t worry. If the parts are not in A1 condition I will not use them. I have a big backlog of cars to build so this unfortunate alternative is becoming necessary due to the increasing cost of building the cars.

Good friend Scott Miller delivered this wonderful piece of art to me this afternoon. It is a backdrop of the Reading Fairgrounds third turn wall including the Schmidt’s sign. I plan on using this for all of my future photos of race car models after Rick Shive Lettering performs his incredible artistic talent and brings these cars to life. This will greatly enhance the display. Scott Miller will be able to make the same fantastic backdrop in any scale you would like. Please consider this great addition to any display.

Dan Nerl. Good Morning Dan. This is Wayne Heiserman from Wayne’s Race Car Models. I wanted to give you a heads up that I will be starting your 1/8 scale sprint car model in about a month if you are still interested. I will need a deposit when you are ready and any help you can provide with photos of the car you want and how you want it to look. Thank you Dan.

Over the past few months I have gotten several requests for treaded tires on my race car models. I have been able to accommodate a few but I am now out of treaded tires with the exception of a couple of Hoosier pony tires. I will not offer any more treaded tires again. The cost of treaded tires will put me out of business. I have looked into these tires on r/c websites. They cost significantly more than the Goodyear tires that I currently use. A pair of rear tires can run as high as $40 and a pair of fronts is $35. Now these tires need wheels. First of all there are no wheels available that will look correct on a modified. Secondly they can cost up to $30 each and still need considerable modifications. Taking all of this into consideration I will not provide anything other than the Goodyears. Consider it a “track tire”. If you want to change tires after I build your model be my guest. Remember it will probably cost you about $200. Anyone who has a current request on my list is welcome to cancel. Thank you. Sorry but I cannot afford to provide treaded tires.

Race car models that Rick Shive of Shive Lettering painted for me. It is a great pleasure working with Rick. He is a great guy and an extremely talented artist. Every time I give a car to him I can’t wait to see it when he has worked his incredible magic. I am truly honored to have such a great talent and great friend working with me to give our customers the best cars we can.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Brian Bennett today. He drove in from Connecticut to pick up his model. Thank you for allowing Rick and I to build and paint your model. I hope you enjoy the car.

I picked this car up at Rick Shive of Shive Lettering when I got the 23. Rick did another outstanding job on this car. He is a gifted artist and a real big race fan. These two traits make him a spectacular talent on race cars. This car is going to Brian Bennett. He has been fun to work with and I look forward to meeting him.

I just got this car back from Rick Shive of Shive Lettering. It is another exceptional work of art from Rick. His incredible talent never ceases to amaze me. The owner Bryan Miller picked it up this morning. He’s a great guy and it was a great pleasure to meet him.

Just finished the Bryan Miller #23 vintage modified. It’s ready to go to Rick Shive and Shive Lettering to be lettered and finished. This poor baby fell off the table this morning and needed some minor repairs. I also changed front shocks on it. You racing guys know what that is all about. I’ll post more when Rick is done with the car.

I have one car out for paint and lettering. Rick Shive of Shive Lettering is working on it. He will work his magical artistry on it and bring it to life. And I have another car waiting for paint from a supplier. So I have let no grass grow in my shop. I’ve been working on this one. I had a lot of trouble with the stance. I’m still not very happy with that but I’ll figure it all out. This car is actually very adjustable. I have a lot to do yet but I’m at the stage where it needs to look like the real car.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Scott Coslett this evening. He came to pick up his Bogars Spped Shop Jan Opperman “Sh*tbox 2”. He loves the car and is especially pleased with the Rick Shive of Shive Lettering artistry.

Day 17: We delivered the car to Rick to work his magic.

Day 16: The car is ready to go to Rick for painting and lettering. I will owe him big time for this as he is mixing the color that my paint suppliers could not furnish. He will have to strip the car down pretty far to get at all that needs to be repainted. He knows how my cars go together so that should work out OK. I hate to add the extra work to him as he is quite busy. After he is finished it comes back to me for final tweets such as the stance and the curling of the roof. The back of the roof needs to be raised a bit. It measures level but it looks like it’s going uphill. It’s all good and will come out fine. It’s just part of the process.

Day 15: I have made three attempts to get the correct color of green for this car from my paint suppliers. They have all failed miserably. These are very reliable suppliers but can’t seem to figure this one out. This is not cheap paint. I will lose my ass on this car if I can’t return the paint. I’m going to lose it as it is but that’s my bad. I’m trying to satisfy the customer and give him the best car that I can. I have done most of the assembly work and Rick Shive of Shive Lettering is going to try to match the color. I have complete faith that he can do it. Rick will paint and letter it and then send it back to me for final details. I apologize for not posting for a while but there really has been nothing to say other than ‘l got the wrong color paint shipped to me again’. I have a few more things and then it’s on the way for painting and lettering.

Day 14: Project is on hold for a couple of days. Paint supplier sent me the wrong color.

Day 13: Kind of a wasted day. Tried something different. The body was a little sketchy so I made another one. I’ve been thinking about this from the day I built it. There are several areas that needed some work. I checked my list and that body is perfect for a future project. So I found some larger pieces of material that I had forgotten about. I made the body and I’m still not happy with it but i think it will be good for this car.

For sale: These cars are for sale. All cars are 1/8 scale with the exception of the 112”Batmobile”. That car is 1/10 scale. All 1/8 scale cars are approximately 23 inches long with a 14 inch wheelbase. The cars are made of brass and steel. They are hand made all the way down to the wooden engines. The price is $400 each plus $75 shipping. I live in Tatamy PA. If you can pick it up the shipping charge will be dropped. I will not change or alter any of these cars. I can be reached by pm at Wayne Heiserman or by text or email at [email protected]

Day 12: I stripped the frame down and readied it for paint. I primered all of the parts and started painting them. The body needs some more putty and sanding. I changed the hood slightly and it looks much better.

I am honored and humbled to have achieved a lifelong dream and goal as a model builder. Stephanie Throckmorton, Curator and Bill Throckmorton, President of Grant King Race Shop/Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana have agreed to purchase and display my Grant King built “heavy” model of the Ferraiuolo #73 modified stock car. They have a life size version of every type of car Grant King ever built with the exception of the northeast “heavy” dirt modifieds. This model though not life size is a scale of 5.4 to 1. I would love to get to Indy one day to see it live. The Throckmortons are wonderful people who are totally dedicated to preserving and moving forward the history of motorsports. Thank you so much to Stephanie and Bill for your kindness and your interest in my race car model. This is the honor of a lifetime for me. Best wishes for your continued growth and success and your dreams for the future plans for the Grant King Race Shop/ Museum.
