We will have practice for HS and MS wrestlers on Monday 11/20 at 10:00 AM at the weight room. Reply to this message if you plan to attend.

Reminder - Kids Club practice (lower elementary) is canceled for tomorrow 11/14 as Coach Curtiss will be attending a funeral visitation.

Kids Club practice (upper elementary) is canceled for Tuesday 11/14 as Coach Curtiss will be attending a funeral visitation.

We are smoking turkeys for our fundraiser tomorrow up at the school starting at 7:00 AM. I’m not sure how long we will be there but if anyone wants to come help, we will be outside the lower elementary cafeteria.

The Upper Elementary will be using the East Gym all day tomorrow 10/20. We will therefore be unable to use our mats this Friday.

1st period athletics will meet at 7:45 as usual at the East Gym. Wrestlers should be prepared to workout and run on the track outside.

After school practice for MS/HS is canceled for Friday and will resume as usual this coming Monday.

Thursday October 12th is an early release day. We will NOT have after school practice for the UE wrestlers. Practice will resume on Wednesday October 18th for 8th grade / HS, and on Thursday October 19th for UE. Enjoy your fall break.

It’s that time of the year!

After school practice will begin this coming week in the East Gym as follows:

8th thru HS on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting on October 2nd. We we have a brief parent meeting immediately following this first practice.

3rd thru 5th grades on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on October 3rd. We will have a brief parent meeting immediately following this first practice.

All after school practices will begin at 3:15 PM and end at 4:30 PM. Parents or guardians are responsible for transportation home.

All wrestlers are required to have an OSSAA Sports Physical and Consent Form signed and completed no later than October 20th. Athletes who have current sports physicals for other activities do not need to submit additional forms.

Wrestlers should be prepared to change into appropriate work out clothes prior to practice. Gym shorts (preferably without pockets) and a t-shirt will suffice. Men’s and Women’s restrooms will be used for temporary locker rooms for now. Wrestling shoes will be required by the 2nd or 3rd week of practice. Headgear is optional at this time but will be mandatory for competition.

Sorry for the short notice but Dickson Comet Wrestling is responsible for the concession stand for tomorrow’s JH Softball Game. Any help is appreciated. Please arrive no later than 4:45 PM. We will also cover concessions next Tuesday 9/12 for the HS Softball Game and one other date yet to be determined. Reply to this post if you can be there either of those days.

Just got this from the coach at Madill. All Dickson wrestlers are invited.

The tee shirts are finally in. Contact Lisa in the high school office for pick up. Thank you to all that placed an order.

Reminder. Yearbook team pictures for JH and HS wrestlers are on Monday, February 13. JH and MS wrestlers should wear team shirts and bring team shorts to school that day.

Unfortunately, the weather has canceled our last week of wrestling practice. We will NOT have practice the week of 2/6. Yearbook pictures for JH/HS team are now scheduled for 2/13. Wrestlers should wear team shirts and bring team shorts and wrestling shoes for the picture.

I am looking forward to a full season next year with plenty of competition for the UE and JH wrestlers. I am hoping to upgrade our mat and practice facilities. I will keep everybody posted on this site.

We have placed the order for the additional t-shirts and will let you all know when they arrive. On that note, wrestlers can keep the team shirts that were issued but should wash and return the team shorts. I am working on competition gear for the upcoming season.

We will be placing an order for T shirts this week. If you want one and haven’t give us sizes please do so asap. The cost of this years tees are $15.00 and there is an up charge for 3X and up. Please specify your color, white or gray. Also we have T shirts from previous year’s for $10.00. Sizes for those in the comments.

All participants for the Madill matches should arrive at Madill HS tomorrow morning by 9:30 A.M. The address is 501 W. McArthur Street. The Wrestling Room is in the round top building next to the new event center. If you are concerned about directions, we can meet at Dickson and you can follow me.

Wrestlers should wear clean team shirt and shorts, wrestling shoes and headgear. Wrestlers with braces need a mouthpiece.

I expect each kid to get 2-3 matches and we should finish by noon. This will be very informal. Let me know if you have any questions or need to meet at our school first.

Great night for Dickson Comet Wrestling. The kids all wrestled tough. This is the only picture that I got. Let me know if any of you got some good action photos and I’ll post them.

Also still need to confirm the wrestlers who want to go to Madill on Saturday.

Matches in Madill.
We have been invited to Madill this coming Saturday, 1/21, for some informal matches against their club and the youth club from Ada. This will be great experience for our wrestlers who should get 3 to 5 matches each. Everyone up to 7th grade is invited. Wrestling will start at 10:00 A.M. in Madill’s wrestling room. This is a large room with two mats but because both mats will be in use, viewing by parents will be limited. Parents should be prepared to wait outside and rotate in and out to see their kids compete. I need to submit a roster so please reply to confirm participation. Also let me know if you can or cannot provide transportation to Madill HS - 700 S 5th Ave, Madill, OK 73446. Arrive by 9:30 A.M.

All Dickson Comet wrestlers are encouraged to watch some college wrestling tomorrow afternoon on ESPNU. #1 ranked Penn State takes on Oregon State at 1:00 PM followed by Bedlam wrestling at 3:00 when #12 Oklahoma State takes on OU.

Practice will start this coming week. Upper Elementary kids will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays. MS and HS will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practice sessions will be held each school day beginning at 3:15 P.M. and ending at 4:30 P.M.

Participants should wear loose fitting gym clothes without zippers, pockets or buttons. Wrestling shoes are preferred but not required. A good clean pair of athletic socks will suffice for the first few weeks. Street shoes must be removed prior to stepping on the mat. Headgear likewise will not be required for the first few weeks. Shoes and headgear can be purchased in a timely manner online. Academy Sports in Ardmore has some shoes in stock. Wrestlers with braces or other orthodontic appliances are required to wear a mouthpiece during full contact activities.

I will have a brief parent meeting after practice on Wed 10/26 and Thur 10/27 to provide additional information and answer questions.

Dickson Comet Wrestling is finally back. Registration forms are available at school for all male and female students 3rd thru 12th grades. Practice will be held immediately after school and parents will be responsible for transportation home. A schedule will be posted upon completion of registration this week.
