The "I don't see colour" mantra may be more harmful than you think:
Kiara Goodwin, Contributing writer of describes the statement as a lack of visibility and awareness. "โI donโt see colorโ can feel like โIโm choosing to ignore this part of you because it makes me more comfortable.โ It sounds like โI donโt see you,โ and it feels like a casual dismissal."
The remark is seemingly harmless and typically made to come across as "you're good with me as you are," but it is counterintuitive.
Goodwin adds, "refusing to see color is disregarding the distinct beauty that my blackness brings to the table."

Hindsight is always 20/20. We often go back and blame ourselves for things we were not yet taught.
The reality is, everything you do is a culmulation of who you have been developed to be in that moment. It is everything you needed for survival and it is everything you need to grow into the magnificant version of you that youโll be tomorrow.
Donโt let unrealistic hindsight take that away from you.

Setting personal boundaries is the key to supportive relationships.
Having them in place allows us to clearly communicate our needs and wants while creating safer spaces to love and be.

What do you associate peace with? Little did I know, I was thinking about it all wrong.
I've always associated peace with sleeping, cause as soon as I wake up, it feels like the world is attacking me with chaos - tasks to do, standards to live up to, negativity to process. Obviously, this wasn't the right way to go about it. Haphazardly throwing yourself into life is going to guarantee chaos.
Fast-track to a pivotal mindset shift - agency. Agency in creating and maintaining a system for peace. Narrowing down the bullsh*t, being grounded in yourself and your values, leaving nothing in between or out of bounds. You have the power to protect your peace. Your choices are what matters, even when you feel like you have no choices left.
