Venturing Crew 978

Ever wonder about the gunshots that you hear around Boxford on Sunday and Monday mornings of Memorial Day weekend?

Every year our scouts help the American Legion with short ceremonies at each of Boxford's cemeteries; our veterans and the scouts march in, scouts place flowers on the graves of soldiers, a prayer is read, gun volley salute, and taps is played.

We'd love for the members and families in our community to join us. (if you have a child who would like to participate in flower-placing, we'll ask them to partner with a scout to honor the respectful nature of this part of the ceremony- check in with a scout leader upon arrival.)

Yesterday, we ditched our trail maps and grabbed a subway map for a day filled with a different kind of orienteering. We navigated Boston’s public transit system from the North Shore to the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum and explored the city by foot. Lunch in Eataly was amazing.

Congratulations to our Crew President, Evie on being elevated to the rank of Eagle Scout this evening!

Tonight is a great night for a pizza!!!

Crew 978 just went on our annual hut hike our blisters might feel like they will never heal but we all had fun in the end.

Tis the Season to be Merry (and ADVENTUROUS!!!)

Did someone say Thanksgiving? Crew 978 had a great early Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday with our amazing trash can turkey.

Crew 978 enjoyed a 3-day backpacking trip at the end of July. We hiked in to Ethan Pond, day-tripped up Mt Willey (but got rained out of Mt Field), then took the long way around past Thoreau Falls, Zealand Pond and out the A-Z trail to the Highland Center. The views were amazing, food was tasty and a great time was had by all!

Our recent ski trip - overnight cabin stay at Griswold Scout Reservation and then a full day on the slopes at Gunstock Mountain Resort complete with some parking lot tailgating for lunch!!!

Crew 978 took on the Pemigewasett Wilderness and backpacked 8 miles up to the 13 Falls tentsite last weekend!

The Tri-Town Venturing Crew has been out and about... a few weeks ago we paddled on the Ipswich River and camped out on C**t Island.
