November we stopped and Tannum Sands while I worked at Gladstone ED. I scored this cute house to stay in with my NZ room mate.

Tannum is a lovely coastal town that lots of travellers stop at while working in the area. The kids had lots of fun swimming and playing with friends they made at the park.

We have been very slack at posting lately.

So time to catch up.

We stopped at Yeppon and timed it for Holloween. Unfortunately the weather was not the best and we didn't spend much time on the beaches we had heard so many amazing stories about.

Notch point was well worth the tight track to get in.

This would of been our favourite camp if the fish where biting and you could go for a swim.

We spent a few days on the coast at free/Low cost camps on our way to Mackay. Highly recommend Forrest Beach for a low cost camp.

I didn't get many photos in Mackay we spent our time with friends trying to catch a feed of fish and exploring region

The weather wasn't the best during our time at Innisfail. That didn't stops us from having picnic lunch with the locals and swimming at waterfalls.

Cooktown is a picturesque town. We spent a few nights at the . Highly recommend staying here. The kids loved feeding the animals every night.

We checked out the coloured sands, waterfalls and the captian Cook Museum.

We where in town for the annual Hog hunt. This was definitely a different experience watching all the feral pigs be weight in at the pub.

Perfect time to stop at a caravan park.

Back on the PDR to continue making our way south.

We stopped back for a peacful night at Coen and a swim.

Enjoyed the huge playground and animals at Hann River Roadhouse.

Had an amazing night at the lion's den hotel. Who dosen't love a pub with a playground, swimming and live music on a Wednesday night.

From the tip back to Weipa for a quick 3 weeks work.

We spent our time making new friends and fishing.

We love Weipa.❤️

Finally to the top what an unique and amazing part of our country.

We loved our beach front stay at Alau and caught up with a travel family we meet back in Atherton.

Called into Punsand for a coffee before heading to the tip with our cape mates.

Heading further north on the PDR we stopped of at Bramwell station for the live show.

Then up to fruit bat, Elliot and Twin falls for a swim. We loved fruit bat so much we called in 3 times.

Before crossing the Jardine ferry we attempted to land a big barra, maybe next time🎣

After Coen we headed to Weipa in time for the rodeo. The caravan park was packed but the perfect place to watch the sunsets over the ocean with our new mates.

Wow Cape York has definitely left a big impression on us. When we where at Normanton we nearly skipped the cape and headed west. I'm so grateful we decided to do the cape.

We have been slack at posting the past few weeks. So here's some pictures from the start of our trip to the tip.

On our way up we stopped at Kennedy River which was a bush camp we manged to snag to ourselves 🙂 Then on to Musgrove roadhouse and watch the feeding of the freshwater Crocodiles.

After that we headed to Coen River. This is an amazing free camp . We parked the van on the beach and played in the water most of the day. Here we meet an awesome couple who quickly become our cape buddies and we travelled with them for the next few weeks.

Unfortunately Coen will also be remembered for all the wrong reasons. We had possibly our worst night camping ever here due to a domestic violence situation with fellow campers that resulted in me doing my first police statement.

Jardine Station Camp stay was such a refreshing and relaxing spot to stay. .

We camped at the 'beach' and enjoyed sitting around a fire after spending our days swimming and playing on the rocks. After spending so long around water with 🐊 it was amazing to be swimming again.

The caretaker showed us the freash water crocs at the lagoon and told us where to find a bower bird nest.

We made it to Karumba twice during our time in the gulf. We ticked off alot of the must see to do things whilst in town with our new friends Daly Adventures. It was such a relaxing afternoon we all really enjoyed.

✔️Barra farm
✔️Drinks at the sunset tarven
✔️Fish and chips at Ashes where they serve local Barra
✔️ watch the sunset over the coast.

After having so much fun the first time we went back and tried our luck at fishing. Unfortunately we didn't catch anything. But another stunning sunset from the sunset tarven.

Grateful we didn't run into any big Crocodiles while trying to catch a barra. Thanks for introducing us to life in a remote community Normanton. I'm going to miss those stunning sunsets out the kitchen windows.

This has been our home for the past 5 weeks. While I work at the Normanton hospital.

Happy to be back in the van and on the road again.

Oops we skipped Atherton....

We seen so many waterfalls the kids started complaining 'not another one'. Learned all about trees kangaroos, volcano's and seen one of the very impressive fig trees.

Before taking a remote contract we probably should of all had hair cuts 💇‍♀️Lucky for Hair In A Van thanks Julie for our fresh new do's. What a cool set up. 🚌 It's always good to talk to fellow travellers.

Even more grateful for Travel Australia With Kids discount. Win win.

Obriens creek campground was our first stop on the Savannah Way.

This is a cool camp ground 30km from Mt Suprise. Every afternoon, the caretakers light the donkey so campers can enjoy a hot shower. The creek is seasonal, which thankfully had water as it was hot, 36c.

We tried our luck fossicking for Topaz. Unfortunately, we didn't find the retirement stone.

Innot hot Springs. What a unique experience. The water was varying temperatures. Some spots way to hot to touch. Unfortunately the caravan park was full so we didn't get to experience the temperature controlled pools.

For the past 6 weeks we have explored the Mossman area while I completed my first contract as a travel nurse. Wow what an experience working outside of Victoria for the first time.

Heading to the beach in Port Douglas before an arvo shift definitely a good mix of work and play.

We are on the move again before my next contract.

Mossman gorge anther big walk (5km) in the rainforest for little legs. They must be getting used to it because this time no one complained🤪

Our day in the Daintree. We went over the river on the ferry and headed up to Cape tribulation for the day.

Photos from Dixon's Travels's post 10/06/2023

Well we had a amazing time on the sky rail and the train at freshwater station we went on the train and went though 15 tunnels and past 2 waterfalls after the train we had a look around a cute little town called Kuranda, and had lunch at the pub, after lunch we headed to the skyrail to come back, stopping at a water fall then ended the trip on the bus back to the station

Abbie 😊

A stop off at Hartley's Crocodile Adventures was an awesome spot, the kids loved seeing all the animals and getting to hold some.
They also learnt about the farming side of crocodiles
