RECORDING SESSION || The Concert Band was busy working on a recording project last week. In just three days, we were able to record five pieces!

Recording projects are no easy task, and it takes a team to accomplish it. Sending a special thanks and shout-out to Major Boothe, Commander of the Air National Guard Band of the Southwest, for assisting with the project and providing valuable feedback and a critical ear during each take! It improved our product immensely.

This is a picture of Major Boothe (pink shirt) in the booth 😉 with our audio engineers working tediously on notating and listening closely to each take!

More information is coming soon about the recordings!

Does this 🐕 look familiar to you? If you work for the DoD it probably does.

That Military Working Dog is Nick, a six-year-old German Shepherd with the 2nd Military Police Detachment on Fort Meade, Maryland.

The U.S. military has approximately 1,600 Military Working Dogs that serve in every branch of the United States Armed Services. Around the world and around the clock, Military Working Dogs provide paws on the ground and support forces at sea and in the air. In this picture, he is wearing what is sometimes called "doggles" - goggles that protect from the harsh elements of deployed environments.

“I was the lucky one.

I was lucky to get you, Uudensi as my first dog as brand new handler. You were one of the best dogs in the kennel so working you all I had to do was hold the leash and learn my job! You taught me so much and made me a cocky handler, with you by my side I knew we could do anything! You sparked a passion in me for this job by the pure drive you always had to work and the loving goofy side that seemed to perfectly match mine! Our time working together was short lived due to the start of your medical issues but we still won 2nd place in detection at a competition, we got to go to New York on a mission where you left the nastiest p**p in front of an outdoor restaurant and I forgot p**p bags, we handed out a football at a college to start the game and most importantly got to spend 9 months together as a team!

I was lucky to be able to adopt you and have you become part of my family! We have travelled to New York to meet all the Longo’s, travelled to Louisiana to meet my Aunt and Uncle Warner, Texas were you lived with your Grandma an Grandpa while I was deployed and now to Florida where we made a home, met amazing friends who instantly loved you and always wanted love and gave you human food even when i said no. You finally got a backyard to run and play and got to yell at all the bird for coming to close to your yard. We meet and both fell in love with Cody and truly became a whole family! You stood by our side as we said I do and you were quickly welcomed as a new family member to all the Hootman’s.

I am truly and forever lucky to have had you at my side for the last 7 years! You are my best friend, my guardian, my confidant and most importantly my family. You are so loved and will forever be missed! I am so lucky you let me be your person and you loved me with your whole furry heart!

The U.S. Army story cannot be told without reflecting on the contributions made by Black Americans who have served and sacrificed in every conflict in our nation's history.

Chief Warrant Officer Cheddie Wilson is an AH-64E Apache helicopter pilot from San Diego, California.

He says, “Positive representation is everything; the positive attitudes, the mentors that believe in you, and the people that help you along the way. Seeing other African-Americans such as Lt. Gen. Brunson and Command Sgt. Maj. Clemmons hold such high positions reinforced how important representation is, because seeing them gave me hope and made my dreams seem more like a reality."
