Let’s talk hyperpigmentation! Hyperpigmentation is slightly more complex than other skin conditions and is caused by an increase in melanin, mainly triggered by sun exposure, hormonal changes and age. Red light at our intensities does not stimulate melanin production so will not make it worse. Over time it has been proven to help even skin tone, but the key is patience with hyperpigmentation and LED light therapy. To begin with dark spots may appear darker, as the damaged cells are brought to the surface but over time these will lighten. The good news is we have seen really amazing results from consistent use.

April is stress awareness month so here’s a little bit of honesty…

Stress - it wreaks havoc on every system on your body. There is not one skincare product that can outrun the effect of stress on your skin, it can help but your fighting a loosing battle unless you get to the root cause of why your stressed.

I have massively neglected my body the last few months, I have been running around like a headless chicken and then I came down with covid and had to move houses, all whilst trying to juggle my two jobs and be a ‘good’ mum and hold it all together.

It is so important to take time out for YOU. My happy place will always be the beach there’s something about the sea air that makes my soul feel soothed.

How I like to tackle stress

👉🏽 meditation - I use the 10 minutes each day I’m under my at home LED to meditate

👉🏽a pampering treatment - I love a results based facial but there’s nothing quite like a relaxing facial full of massage to help de-stress

👉🏽 recommended cold showers - I’m working on this as I hate the cold but when I do manage this I automatically feel revived and the effects on the body fantastic

👉🏽friendships - there’s no doubt about it when I talk to my friends about what’s going on I instantly feel better✨

👉🏽learning to say NO! I find this quite hard and often say yes to everything and as I’ve got older I’ve got more confident in saying no to things so that I have time for myself ♥️

My routine:

1. Nourishing Balm Cleanser (to remove my SPF)
2. Skinfoliate Exfoliate (my 1st exfo in about 10 days)
3. 10 minutes of LED (giving my cells some much needs ATP - energy)
4. Renew - Retinal serum (Anti Ageing power house)
5. Eye cream (I’m testing & so far love)
6. OO cream (lock in all the goodness & replenish that barrier!)

All these products are new to me, some I’ve been testing for over a month, some only a few days. I like to use products for a good few weeks/months before I give my honest feedback (as I need to see results & results take time)… BUT,
I must say I’m really impressed so far ! Every morning I wake up and my skin feels GREAT 😊

Repost from Andy Millward - Facialist] using repost_now_app - "Prior to coming to Andy I thought I had acne and had been using harsh products including acids and benzoyl peroxide and been on antibiotics.
After a massive flare all I could really use was gentle cream cleaners, moisturisers, spf and then added azelaic after a while in addition to the osmosis supplements.
I also made some changes to diet and lifestyle to support progress."
My client had been treated by her GP for "acne" with a course of benzoyl peroxide creams and oral antibiotics.
However having had acne previously and being on roaccautane to clear it up, she knew this was different.
I explained as a Facialist, I couldn't diagnose medical conditions but I suspected it was papulopustular rosacea not acne vulgaris and maybe a different approach was necessary.
The before photo was April of this year and due to how inflamed the skin was we kept treatment minimum using Byonik laser only, no hyaluron gels, for about 3 weeks (6x treatments, 2x a week) until the inflammation had reduced enough to add in the hyaluron gels (7x Quick Power treatments from May to now in total).
At this stage in between appointments my client was also using the FaceLite LED at home on a virtually daily basis from May, as well as a very genlte, barrier supportive type routine and Azelaic Acid. As well as an internal supplements from Osmosis from June / July.
My client also made some major changes to focus on reducing stress which was a major driver, as well as focusing on a nutritious diet. As I explained skincare and treatments alone can not undo that caused by stress and diet.
This is a great example of how it's not just one thing, but a combination of things together as part of a functional / holistic approach that helped to get the end result.
I couldn't be happier for her and the progress she has made!

Repost from Andy Millward - Facialist] using repost_now_app - Sharing another client transformation. I've had the pleasure of working with my client for exactly a year to get a sudden acne breakout under control.
Having never experienced acne before to suddenly getting it quite severe on her cheeks was naturally very distressing. Prior to coming to me she had fallen into the trap of buying everything that she'd read online is good for acne. Which unfortunately just made it worse.
So of course I stripped it back to basics and focused on barrier support, sun protection and a good retinoid.
Treatment wise has been a combination of Byonik to get the active acne under control before switching over to skin needling to address residual scarring.
Swipe to see a transitions video of photos over the last 12 months. Which I wanted to share for a few reasons. Mostly because it shows the process. It shows the importance of being patient. Although results don't happen overnight, there has been progressive improvement over the 12 month period. It also shows the importance of being consistent. My client didn't sway from the programme I set out in terms of home care products and still uses the same routine today that I originally recommended a year ago, with the odd small tweak along the way as her skin changed. It also shows the benefits of commitment. Many people would be happy with the results after 6 months but my client continued with treatment to address the scarring and also ensure her skin was looking the best for family weddings etc
Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate that healthy GLOW!!
