Memory of ”TWO NATIONS CELEBRATE”
Sad to read that HM Queen Elizabeth has passed. Long live the Queen!
We were fortunate to ”meet” HM Queen Elizabeth at the Royal Albert Hall in London on July 11, 1996 when the concert ”Two Nations Celebrate” was held, with the freed President Nelson Mandela and his daughter Zenani Mandela-Dlamini and HRH Prince Charles. It was organised by the Prince’s Trust.
During the intermission of the concert we were in the corridor outside our box, when the Queen ”floats” pass us. Queen Elizabeth was completely untouchable!!! A real Queen!!! 👑 Everyone was flabbergasted to just watch her pass.
Behind her came Nelson Mandela who was completely the opposite, cheerful, happy and laughing and giving us high fives ✋🏻 in celebration for the evening and I guess his freedom. Behind him Prince Charles passed by us with a bigger smile 😃 than normal.
Our box was directly above the seats of President Nelson Mandela and HRH Prince Charles. If we would have dropped anything it would have landed in their laps.
An amazing evening and concert to attend as a young entrepreneur at 27 years at the time. A lifetime memory.
The concert featured performances from Phil Collins, Tony Bennett and Quincy Jones, as well as South African artists Bayete, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Hugh Masekela and more. 🎶
Attending the concert was the Partners of EMDS Group: Christian Hunt (Group/Benelux), Stephane Wajskop (Group/Benelux), Andreas Swahn (Nordic), William Archer (UK), Torsten Lueddecke (DACH), Sharon MacBeath (France), Ben Witorsch (Hungary), James Harris (Hong Kong), Jonathan Winter (Whiteway Research our R&D company) and Carine Alberghini (Benelux).
