Opting for eco-friendly products in an effort to be more green? Beware of the hidden truth. 🚨 Many products marketed as “compostable” or “biodegradable” still contain materials that aren't truly eco-friendly. A recent report from shows that these alternatives often require specific conditions to break down, which most places can't provide.
While companies are making strides towards positive changes, it's crucial to stay informed about the solutions and what's truly best for our planet. Let's not be swayed by greenwashing.
The presence of nearly 7.5 million plastic straws on U.S. shores highlights the urgent need for sustainable alternatives.
We understand finding a good alternative to your usual straw hasn’t been easy. Some get soggy, others just don’t feel right.
That’s where Beyond Plastic steps in. Our PHA straws don’t compromise the environment or your experience. They’re designed to be recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable, offering a smooth transition to greener habits. Together, we can work towards a cleaner planet. 🌍
Happy Earth Day! 🌍 Today reminds us to cherish and protect our planet. One simple and effective option you can take is switching to eco-friendly straws. Straws are among the top pollutants of our oceans so making a switch can have a big impact. By switching to Beyond Plastic PHA straws, you get the feel of traditional straws without the environmental harm. Join us in making a meaningful difference this Earth Day. Your choice matters.
Plastic pollution is a global crisis that demands our attention. From the highest peaks to the deepest oceans, plastic particles have infiltrated every corner of our planet. 🌎 Understanding the facts about plastic pollution is a crucial first step to tackling the crisis.
The breakdown of plastic is slow and complicated. It depends on the type of plastic, where it ends up, and even tiny organisms. Most plastics last for hundreds of years, causing a lot of pollution.
However, we can change this. By choosing responsibly and switching to eco-friendly options, we can make a difference. Our goal is to design products that biodegrade similarly to paper, leaving no traces. Here’s to making good choices for our planet!
Did you know caps are the second biggest type of pollution in our oceans?
The reason is startling: they're inexpensive to produce, used on the estimated 1.5 billion bottles made daily, and have no economic value for recycling. Made from materials that float, caps easily journey through drains and waterways into our rivers, lakes, and oceans. There, they break down into micro and nano plastics over many years, posing a significant threat to marine life.
We're stepping up to address this issue head-on. Introducing the first-ever RCB cap — the only recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable cap designed to combat this pollution. Join us in our mission to reduce single-use plastic waste and protect our waters. 🌊
There’s an alarming increase of microplastics in our sea life. It's a cycle that harms us all. Let’s break the cycle by committing to reducing single-use plastics.
We are thrilled to announce the world’s first completely biodegradable plastic bottle cap! Made possible in collaboration with CJ Biomaterials, A global and leading producer of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biopolymers.
Our new eco-friendly cap can directly replace traditional, petroleum-based plastic caps and is completely recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable, contributing to a healthier, more sustainable planet.
“Utilizing CJ Biomaterials’ PHA biopolymers, we’ve developed an authentically eco-conscious alternative to conventional plastic bottle caps. This marks a significant leap forward in sustainability, but it’s just the beginning,” Fred Pinczuk, Beyond Plastic’s Chief Technology Officer

Beyond Plastic's PHA formulations have passed the required testing for Tüv OK Industrial, Tüv OK Marine, and BPI Compostable certifications. These tests include biodegradation, disintegration, and toxicity studies. Beyond Plastic is halfway through the required disintegration testing for Tüv OK Home certification, but all other tests have been passed and the 16-week disintegration update is extremely promising! 🥳

Let's talk about PHA plastic — it can be recycled, composted, and breaks down without leaving microplastics behind. You can toss it in your home compost bin along with your kitchen scraps, no problem.
Love using straws but hate the harmful impact they have on the environment? Now you can sip without the guilt. Our straws are made from natural plastic -- meaning they're recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable.
The scale of plastic pollution in our oceans is growing at an alarming rate. Currently, there are 75 to 199 million tons of plastic waste within our marine environments. And it's set to double every 6 years. 🌊📈 These stats highlight the urgent need to act now to reduce plastic pollution and find better alternatives to traditional plastics. 🌊♻️
Let's address this critical issue together. 💪

📊 Plastic pollution is a pressing concern with startling statistics: Globally, we currently produce 400 million tons of plastic annually, and it's set to rise to 600 million tons by 2050. Unfortunately, recycling efforts alone won't be able to solve this crisis. That's why there's an urgent need for sustainable solutions to help mitigate the environmental impact of plastic production and consumption.🌿♻️
Let's work together to address this critical issue. 💪

We’re honored to join like-minded leaders and innovators at PHA World Congress in Atlanta, GA. We had a great two days filled with insights and conversations on the need to create a functioning circularity model to move the PHA industry forward. And our very own, Alex Delink, had the opportunity to speak on how PHA can become a viable alternative to conventional plastic.

What is PHA? ♻️
Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are a class of biodegradable polymers that can be obtained from biosynthesized materials and carbon-rich renewable resources, resulting in far fewer emissions and energy consumption than traditional plastics derived from fossil fuels.
