Starting a Tradition
The Tradition Begins was founded after a mix of past creative experiences sparked a passion. Bringing a unique aesthetic to the Baltimore area, the artisanal baking and boutique events company was founded on the idea that every intimate celebration should begin a tradition with the art of entertaining.
Following seven years in New York City, gaining experience in luxury fashion editorials and photoshoots, costume design for TV & film, and e-commerce marketing for Ralph Lauren, Lexie moved to Baltimore for a job offer. It was a traditional story of venturing to a new city for a job opportunity, but staying in that city for love, where she met her now husband. She was able to continue some work in NY, with french bakery, cafe & event space, Maman, assisting during New York Fashion Week shows, such as Marc Jacobs and Coach.
Ultimately missing the creativity that New York consistently fed her with, and feeling a real void of variation in Baltimore, she decided to create something of her own that the city was missing.
Stacie began her career in merchandising, gaining an extensive retail background, with an emphasis on customer service and detail. During that time she developed and organized in-store events. She later established Tea by the Sea, the first tea room and gift shop in Maryland’s historic downtown Berlin. There, she hosted bridal and baby showers, community events, children’s themed parties and coordinated progressive dinners. Tea by the Sea was featured in publications such as Coastal Style Magazine and Chesapeake Life, named one of the top 10 things to do in Worcester County, and nominated for a Maryland New Business Award. She simultaneously worked at the historic Atlantic Hotel as the events coordinator, planning weddings, luncheons, and dinners for the Governor and guests alike. While in Berlin, she co-chaired and organized the town’s holiday decorations and tree lighting ceremony.
