If I had to start giving up alcohol over—I’d focus on these 3 steps 👇
1️⃣—I’d get as much sleep as I could. Sleep is a healer. I had treated my body poorly & lots of sleep would have been helpful at reenergize Ming, and resetting lots of processes!
2️⃣—I would have seen a functional nutrition coach or someone who specializes in sobriety nutrition (which is why I got my certification) because I just didn’t know what specifically would help my liver, adrenals, gut, brain, much more physiologically & biochemically heal.
3️⃣—I’d really hone in on learning how to regulate my emotions & my nervous system. I just assumed that when I quit drinking EVERYTHING would magically be better. & it just wasn’t.
It got IMPOSSIBLE at times because I wasn’t equipped to deal with all the things that were happening within me.
THIS 👆👆 is why it makes so much sense to me WHY women go back to alcohol again & again.
The pull to numb out is strong & I get that.
Giving up alcohol@& getting unstuck from its grip is a multi-faceted process that takes some time, experimenting & compassion for where you’ve been & excitement for where you are going! 💪

There isn’t any one reason to quit alcohol.
There are LOTS of reasons.

There isn’t a perfect way to approach quitting alcohol + learning to thrive without it.
For me, it took several renditions of trying different methods + even putting rules in place to keep drinking.
Sound familiar?! 😜
Nothing quite worked as well as getting to the root of WHY I was drinking —a sort of working backward to unravel the mystery of why I was reaching for it.
👉 I found I used alcohol for self-worth—to feel confident.
👉 I used alcohol to use my voice + speak my mind.
👉 I used alcohol to be a “fun” parent
👉 I used alcohol to calm my mind and anxiety.
👉 I used it to unwind + some days just because I thought I deserved it.
Getting to the bottom of why you drink is the key to healing and thriving in sobriety!

Ok so the TRUTH is I am completely overwhelmed that I’m turning 50 today AND I’m proud of it
I’m telling myself 50 isn’t that old. RIGHT?!
I’m mean this red pant suit feels just right as I kick & stretch and yell to the room “I’m 50!”
It’s just the beginning of something even bigger than I’ve already witnessed.
I’m truly blessed to be here, to be alcohol-free + growing up + learning more + more every day.

Rumor has it when others ask about alcohol you freeze…
Whether you are experimenting, being curious about not drinking, or are sure alcohol is not for you—honesty is the best policy (in my book).
➳ When I quit drinking, I also started being honest with myself and others, so it was part of the equation for me.
Here are some ideas to tell people you aren’t drinking.
🚨 I want to insert a reminder here that you don’t have to tell anyone anything 🚨
➳ it just might be easier to have a statement on hand if/when you are caught off guard, or if you find yourself using the same statement over + over.
