It's been a wild ride, especially here on Facebook. I am grateful for all of the comments and questions that you, my fellow neighbors, have asked. It is imperative to understand what each candidate stands for and how they will represent you, your family, and the community in the coming term. I have had many conversations with folks on the phone and by email. If you still have questions on who to vote for and what I stand for, reach out to me. And thanks for taking the time to Vote!

Everything is Awesome!

21/10/2021

Early this morning, I was informed that someone was placing notes on the doors of people in our community that misrepresented my direct thoughts on apartments and townhomes. This occurred at several locations. This election has made a bad turn and revealed the unfortunate side of politics. I also find it cowardly to not divulge the sources or quote factual information to avoid repercussions of their mis-statements.

As a council member, a large portion of my time is spent helping to plan the future of our city. I never said that apartments and high density are "a scar" to our city. I said that placing four-story apartment buildings in an area that should have been preserved for commercial use, like a grocery store, is a scar to the city, as it is something we can never take back. We have many areas of our city better suited for high density. That’s why it’s so important to have elected officials who plan for the future, instead of giving up every square inch to residential development. It was never about the building or especially the people, but the land use. That’s where planning starts.

It’s unconscionable that someone in opposition to my campaign would decide to purposely misrepresent anything I have said or done for their own personal gain. My intent as your new Mayor is to support ALL of our residents. You won’t find me quoting or discussing anything but facts and the truth, guided in the spirit of leadership.

I also will not accuse my opponent of being part of this ugliness, as I believe she is better than this. But I will say, those that are involved in this behavior, while intending to help my opponent, may be doing more harm than good. Ring doorbells and security cameras reveal a lot. Let us each move forward with the election based on policy and leadership, not dirty politics.

Pat, thanks for your strenuous efforts to better our city. Thank you for getting to know the candidates and willingness to share your point of view.

This is an open letter to the citizens of West Haven from Pat Young:

We have a choice, in my experience, voting for 54 years, we do not often get the chance to make such clear cut decisions. The Primary Election this past August found 10% of the voters casting their ballot in my direction. Rob Vanderwood received a majority of the votes.
I am a firm believer in sustainable development, including citizens in the process of decision making and leadership by example. Ryan Swapp, Clarence Kelly and Rob Vanderwood, from my view, present these qualities.
Mr. Swapp is a member of the Utah National Guard. That means something to me. He has sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States and as a citizen soldier he protects us and defends our liberties. He is a man of valor, a man of conscience and this oath has no expiration date.
Mr. Kelley, an engineer, is accustomed to completing tasks and solving complicated problems. Our city is facing loss of green space, over development and some irrationally placed dense housing. This is a problem.
Mr. Vanderwood, in my opinion, not only listens to constitutiants, but acts on their responses. I do not see him as a vengeful leader. I am quite sure he supports his associates, while maintaining a positive relationship with the public. Especially those feeling overwhelmed by officials.
In conclusion, these three men, from my prospective are above reproach. I personally have confidence in Ryan Swap, Clarence Kelley and Rob Vanderwood to do what they say which is listening to the citizens of West Haven And FOLLOWING THROUGH.
