I’m sitting here trying to figure out how to start this, typing and hitting the “pentagonalesque” framed x button repetitively. After seeing Lee Wong’s incredible bravery, I didn’t want this platform to be lost on the idea of addressing Asian hate. Since the start of the pandemic hatred towards Asian people has increased significantly. Last year, roughly 3800 incidents involving hatred towards Asian individuals occurred, and that’s just what was counted from the basis of a specific metric. If you’ve ever listened to this podcast you know that there is a beautiful and vast appreciation for Asian culture, and so understanding this greatly saddens Croco’s Corner as a whole. Any community that is created and extends from this podcast will always look to bring people together and forge conversations that can embolden and reinforce a future that is inclusive of all. No matter the ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual preference, political standing, or whatever grouping is used to separate us, we as human beings can and should work towards a better future. A future truly expresses love for our neighbors of anything so that we can foster a greater love for ourselves. Please do not add to the hatred that already separates us. Take the time to humble and educate yourself so that others aren’t hurt by the actions used to reinforce your own insecurities. To put it in simpler terms, and to echo the sentiment of Mr. Wongs closing, learn to love.
