I am not going to sit on Facebook and argue with someone who decided to put words in my mouth before even speaking to me. Some will sit and light a fire and you can do and say everything to put that fire out but they’ll just continue to keep it going. The world of politics! It is sickening to read comments of those whose motives are just to simply start an argument. Instead of doing that, why don’t YOU do something. I am doing something. I am running for this seat so that I can!!!! What type of influence are you on our children. You are the problem!!

The Republican Party endorsed myself and 3 other candidates running for Asheboro BOE because of our values and Christian beliefs. Unfortunately, that means that whatever they decide to do, with my name being attached to it, I am in the line of fire. I do appreciate their support and their concerns for our children. I also believe that ACS families and those in our community do need to be aware of the issues in our schools. There is a lack of transparency when it comes down to it.

I denounce white supremacy and all forms of ideology that seeks to divide people on the basis of race. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, people should “not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

As I’ve made clear throughout my campaign, Critical Race Theory—that our American form of government is structurally racist and that peoples’ beliefs are inherent based on the color of their skin—should not be taught in our kids’ schools. I believe we should strive to create a welcoming educational environment for all students in our community. If elected to the school board, I will represent everyone in our community to make sure that every child receives the education that each of them deserve.

I am running for school board not because of a racism issue, I am running for school board so that I can work alongside the other board members to make sure we continue to make Asheboro City Schools the great district it is.

If you have not voted yet, I strongly encourage you to do so on November 2nd. Folks, do your own research. Reach out to every candidate and ask the questions. Don’t let something someone post, sway your decision!

I appreciate the support and hope to continue to fight for what’s best in our schools. ❤️

Last week the candidates for Asheboro City School Board of Education participated (if wanted) in answering two questions from the Randolph Hub. I cannot seem to find the article that came out today online but will try to find it somewhere in town tomorrow. Below are the two questions asked and my answers.

1. If you are not an incumbent, explain to voters why you should be the choice to fill an incumbent’s seat.

I would first like to say thank you to both Beth and Baxter for their years of service. Both have done an excellent job representing the Asheboro City School system. As an Asheboro native, AHS graduate, and parent of two boys who will be in ACS for the next 10 years, I am committed to working respectfully alongside the board members on all issues. I want voters to know that I will not shy away from issues and policies that I do not believe are in the best interest of our students. I believe all children deserve the highest quality of education possible and want to work towards making sure our teachers can provide that. I want voters to know that I am committed to making sure our board communicates and is transparent with our community, our staff and our district families. Lastly, I want voters to know I have a strong passion for our students and teachers and that I will work to the best of my ability to ensure that ACS continues to be the wonderful school district that is always has been.

2. Point out the most important issue(s) in your race, your opinion on that or those issues, and how you intend to address them should you be elected.

Covid recovery: one of my most immediate concerns is getting all of our kids back on track and up to grade level. I have seen first hand in our classrooms how many of our students were unable to remain on track during the remote learning period of Covid. With kids now back in the classroom, we need to equip and support our teachers in a way that allows them to focus on areas of concern. Focusing on staff development, staff support and teacher retention will help us work towards this.

I have tried to encourage parents for awhile to start attending these meetings. Here is your chance to “attend” without actually going to the live meeting. Or come!! I’ll save you a seat 👍🏼

Tonight the Asheboro City Board of Education will meet for their regularly-scheduled October meeting. We will recognize our Principal of the Year, Ms. Nikki Domally; feature a School Spotlight from North Asheboro Middle School; and hear from each of our schools about their drafted Continuous Improvement Plans. We encourage you to tune in tonight at 7:30 p.m. using the LIVE stream links found on the page listed below! Or - come join us in person in the media center at South Asheboro Middle School!

For those who do not know me, I would like to introduce myself and talk a little bit about why I am running for Asheboro City BOE.

My name is Hailey Trollinger Lee. My husband Justin and I were both born and raised right here in Asheboro and we both graduated from Asheboro High School. We have twin boys who are 7 years old and in the 2nd grade here in ACS. I began my professional career as a massage therapist, but have been a stay at home mom since the birth of our twins. Over the last two years, I have been a substitute teacher for ACS. I have been involved with PTO since 2019 and currently serve as PTO President at Guy B. Teachey. We attend Vintage Church in Randleman, where we both serve as volunteers. I enjoy running, spending time with my family and friends, and trips to the beach & mountains. Candy is my favorite food group.

___________

I am running for school board to insure education becomes our #1 priority again-for all students. I feel we have lost focus on that. I am also running to be a voice for our teachers. Teachers are our biggest assets and are key to the growth of our students.

I want to better serve our community. I have a desire to create a stronger relationship between the school board and families. I want to help bridge the gap and believe that transparency & communication are key.

This November, I ask that you not cast your vote based on the mask debate. Whether you agree or disagree, masks will eventually go away. I have a huge passion for our children. I want you to know that I will not sit silent when something is happening that I do not agree with or believe is in the best interest of our students and district. I commit to respectfully work alongside the other board members as well as Dr. Woody. Over the last two years, I have seen first hand the importance of our school board policies and leadership. I am very appreciative of how our board works together, even when there are differences.

I do believe that all children deserve the same educational opportunities. I recognize the diversity in our school system and celebrate that. I believe that no matter a child’s race, they should be treated equal. With that said, I do not support CRT in our schools. Being in the classrooms, I have seen first hand the effects of the last 18 months. I believe one of our biggest hurdles will be post-Covid/quarantine recovery. I believe we need to allow our teachers to get back to doing what they love, and that is teaching math, reading, science, etc.

I appreciate your support and your vote on November 2nd, 2021!

Thank you!!
