I'm sitting on my couch reading THE GHOSTS OF RANCHO ESPANTO because Adrianna Cuevas is fabulous and I love her, when my youngest comes up to me and asks, "Is there Spanish in your book?"
I say, "Yes."
And he says, "There's Spanish in mine too."
"Oh? What are you reading right now?"
He brings over THE LAST CUENTISTA by Donna Barba Higuera and says, "I get to take out my phone IN CLASS to look stuff up."
So writers, don't be afraid to put your language and culture into your books because somewhere out there a kid is going to be very excited to take out their phone IN CLASS to look stuff up. ❤️
