Butterflies, moths and many other species of insects are dependent on specific species of plants in order to reproduce. Without native plants in your landscape these insects can not exist. By planting hosts plants in your yard you can help entire species of insects survive. For example the monarch only lays it's eggs on milkweed and the caterpillars will only eat milkweed plants. Please consider planting host plants in your landscape.
