Hello Hall County Friends,

It is with great excitement that I introduce my campaign for the Hall County School Board Post 1 seat. I am not merely jumping into this race, I have been a part of the education race my entire life. I was born and raised in Hall County- the daughter of the late Mr. H. “Dub” Jones who were also educators here. My dad was a teacher and Coach and served on the Board

of Education. Coming from a family of teachers, I have always had a love and a passion for Education. I met and married my high school sweetheart, Roland “Chip” Smith of Gainesville. He too fell in love with kids and became part of my work. We have four children, Justin who is a PA at Lanier Dermatology and his wife Christy, who is a Real Estate Agent. Our daughter, Brittany is a Dentist and is married to Matt Bonds, who is an agent for Farm Bureau. We have 6 grandchildren who are or will be attending Hall County Schools- great reasons to continue my contributions for excellence in our community. I have spent 38 years serving in the Hall County School System. I began as a High School Teacher for 12 years. During that time, I taught primarily Biology, along with some History and English. I also Coached and Sponsored many High School Clubs and Organizations. I then became a Middle School Assistant Principal for 10 years followed by Principal for another 4. I completed my years in Hall County serving as an Elementary Principal for 12 years. During my time working for the County, My husband and I also served as parent volunteers in our children’s schools supporting their PTAs and Booster Clubs. My passion for education runs so deep that even after retirement from Hall County Schools I accepted a position at the University of North Georgia. Since 2018 I have been teaching courses on Educational Leadership there. Through this, I have been afforded the unique opportunity to coach and mentor some of our future Hall County Administrators. I have invested a great deal of time making sure that I was prepared to give my best to Hall County Schools. I received my Undergraduate Degree and Masters Degree in Biology from North Georgia College. I completed my Specialist in Education from University of Georgia and later my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from NOVA University. As a Lifetime Educator, I feel that I would bring a strong knowledge and experience base to the School Board. I have been where the “rubber meets the road”. I know what it means to think “outside the box” because I possess the knowledge of what’s IN the box. I know how students and parents think after years of working with them and serving alongside them. My expertise ranges from Pre-K all the way to College. Needless to say, I have the big picture. If elected I will work diligently to:
Make Hall County Schools feel safe and secure
Find ways to see that all children feel valued and receive equal opportunities at every school
See that schools challenge kids to reach their highest potential while strengthening foundational skills
Review, update, and guard the Curriculum that is presented to our children
See that we are monitoring and attempting to raise the graduation standard and rate
Recruit, hire, and retain quality teachers by increasing benefits and providing strong instructional training and support… Most importantly, let them teach! Ensure Hall County prioritizes choosing the very best individuals to lead our schools
Increase parent communication and involvement … We need parent collaboration for our children to thrive

Dear Facebook Family, Friends and Followers,
As a new year is beginning and shortly I will embark on my new journey as a member of the Hall County Board of Education, I would be remiss if I did not thank all of you for your encouragement, contributions , support and votes during my campaign last year. That time was uncharted waters for me as I am an educator, not a politician. Each and every discussion, meeting and handshake was sincere and heartfelt. My life has been filled with passion for education and that will continue as I serve on the Board. I love Hall County, both the schools and her people. I have completed the required training to serve and I will be sworn in by a judge at the January 10th Board Meeting. I am very humbled that I have been given this opportunity. My prayer is that I will be able to make a positive impact on Hall County Schools. I promise to give my very best efforts to that cause.

I have tried to give you all a break from the political scene for a while. I thank you all so much for your support during my campaign. Now, I'm down to the final vote and once again I am asking for your help in the General Election on November 8th. That vote will determine if I have the honor of serving you as a member of the Hall County School Board. Applications are currently being accepted for absentee ballots and early voting will begin on October 17th. If you have one of my signs, please put it back out again until Election Day. If elected, I promise to give my best efforts to this position. Dear Family and Friends,

Words cannot express how grateful and humbled I am to be the Republican candidate for the Board of Education race. I cannot possibly thank you all enough for your love and support. Many of you put up signs, gave out cards, sent text messages, shared posts on Facebook and, just in general, encouraged people to consider me. No doubt all of these things helped me to win the nomination. I have always said that it takes a village to raise a child and now I know it takes a village to win an election. Thank all of you for being part of my village. I appreciate and love all of you. Only one more hoop to jump through and that will be in November.

To prepare for the general election, I am taking up my signs and will put them out again in September. If you see one that I have not recovered, let me know and I will pick it up. If you have one in your yard I would appreciate if you would take it up and put it back out in September.

Again, thanks for everything that was done on my behalf. I am blessed beyond measure.
