Photos from Florida Kayak Bass Trail's post 20/05/2024

The Florida Kayak Bass Trail hosted its Championship this past weekend On the Kissimmee Chain, and It was an absolute shootout.

The format for this Championship was Best five over a two-day period. Anglers were given 18 hours to fish to secure the largest 5-fish limit.

Day 1 started quickly with Christopher John Bailey securing a 90" bag within the first few hours after lines in. He caught a few more upgrades throughout the day, landing him a 99" total, putting him in the lead after Day 1.

Day 2 proved a true testament for most anglers, as many had difficulty catching any upgrades. However, two anglers were able to catch some key fish, which would shoot them up the leaderboard and overtake the Day 1 leader late in the day. Both anglers had 24" bass in their limit, which proved to be key in jumping them into Century Club, shattering the 100" mark!!!

There were a few anglers who struggled on day one, who made the appropriate changes and were able to jump up the leaderboard to secure a Top 10 Finish.

The BIG move of the Championship came by Jason Denise with a HUGE day two limit that jumped him into 4th Place after catching a 24" early in the morning. Great Job, sir!!!

The 2024 Vanhunks USA Angler of the Year Title came down to the final day of the Championship!!! Thomas Woodring, Sherman Bishop, and Chris Mitchell went back and forth all year battling, and it was a close race with only 5 POINTS separating 1st and 2nd Place. The AOY winner will take home a Vanhunks Elite Pro Angler Kayak, a $200.00 Strike King Lure Company gift card, and $350.00 Cash!!!

The 2024 Rookie of the Year was decided at the Championship and was secured by John Hicks after his exceptional performance at the Championship, placing 5th. He will take home a Dakota Lithium Batteries 54 amp battery. Great Job this season, and we will see you out there again next year!!!

The FKBT has a side pot collecting $5.00 per angler/event that pays into the LUNKER POT. That money is collected throughout the year and is awarded to the Angler who catches the BIGGEST BASS during the season. This year, the pot grew to $1,600.00 and was awarded to Sherman Bishop, our 2023 FKBT State Champion. He caught a 25.25" MONSTER on Lake Orange this year, which secured him 1st Place for that event and Big Bass. So it's safe to say that fish earned him well over $2K this year!!!! Great Job, sir, and I'm looking forward to seeing you out there next year.

Tournament Results:
1st Place ($2,500.00): Devin Holbrook with 101.25"
2nd Place ($1,000.00): Seth Taylor with 100.50"
3rd Place ($700.00): Christopher Bailey with 99.0"
4th Place ($500.00): Jason Denise with 98.25"
5th Place ($300.00): John Hicks with 97.00"

2024 Vanhunks USA Angler of the Year: Chris Mitchell Fishing

The FKBT was awarded well over 10K in cash and prizes at this year's Championship.

The Florida Kayak Bass Trail would like to thank every member and sponsor for supporting this club. Without you all, we would not be where we are today. We look forward to next year and growing this fantastic kayak community. We have some great things happening next year, and we would like you all to be a part of it.

Orange Lake Recap!!!!

The FKBT went back to Orange Lake this past weekend and it did not disappoint!!!

Quick update to the change in the Top 3. Due to a duplicate fish submission after lines out we had to make the correct changes to reflect the Winner to this past weekends event.

Congrats to all 25 anglers that participated in this event y’all went out there and Killed it.

Top Finisher’s:
🥇 93.50” Sherman Bishop taking home $525.00

🥈93.50” Christopher Lindsey taking home $315.00

🥉90.50” Jeff Gallagher taking home $210.00

Big Bass with a 25.25” GIANT Sherman Bishop earning him an additional $125.00 and was the tie breaker between Christopher Lindsey and him for the top spot.

Sherman Bishop is the new FKBT Lunker of the Year leader with this 25.25” the pot is currently sitting at $1,325 and growing!!!

Will Sherman’s 25.25” hold up for the last three events??? We have Okeechobee, Lake Seminole, and The Kissimmee Chain (FKBT Championship)

The Vanhunks USA AOY Race is a close race with the Top 3 battling it out!!! Sherman Bishop was able to overtake Thomas Woodring with 1st place finish at Orange this weekend. Chris Mitchell and Thomas Woodring are still withing striking distance and it’s all going to come down to these next three events.

There’s a lot that’s going to happen before our last event in Lake Seminole in April!!!

Top 25 in AOY points advance to the Championship where it will all be left on the line to determine who’s going to take home the title!!!!

The Team would like to give a huge shout out to all our sponsors and members for making this club possible!!!

Lake Istokpoga is a wrap!!!

Today was a challenge for the anglers on the water. Having to battle the high winds, bugs and bass boats really made for an interesting day on the water!!!

However, we were able to crown a champion who went out there and completely dominated the field from lines in.

The Top 5 really separated themselves from the field with only 10 anglers able to snag a limit today.

Congrats to the Top 3 who really went out there today and Killed it.

🥇 91.50” Timothy Campbell taking home $750.00

🥈87.50” Christopher Parker taking home $450.00

🥉87.00” Wendy McIntyre Biles taking home $300.00

Big Bass with a 24.75” GIANT Timothy Campbell earning him an additional $165.00

Timothy Campbell is the new FKBT Lunker of the Year leader with this 24.75” the pot is currently sitting at $1,200 and growing!!!

Is Timothy’s bass going to hold up or will someone smash it Orange Lake???

The Vanhunks USA AOY Race is getting close!!! Chris Mitchell has moved within 1 point of Thomas Anthony with 4 more events to go anything can happen.
