I was back and forthing for a while about sharing this image. I love how relaxed Boos face 🥰 is here and how handsome he looks but I can’t help but stare at the podge and roll I have going on 😬. But then I slap myself and say hey a grip. 🤦🏽‍♀️ It’s normal, it’s natural so what! 🤗. I’m going to turn this image into a bit of motivation to stick to better habits, eating, drinking (less Coca Cola) and getting a bit more active now we have light! ☀️

Starting Monday the way I mean to go on. I have a good feeling about this week 🤪. This morning schooling session went fabulously. Boo was really responsive to all of my aids and I can feel myself getting stronger in the saddle (aka my core 😬). I noticed I’ve been letting myself tip forward in trot and collapse on the downwards transitions. So time to strengthen up with some no stirrup work! 💪🏼

A massive benefit of balancers is the fact they can be fed as a treat! 😱. The small pellets of the balancers can easily be fed by hand

This was something super handy to know as it’s no secret Mr Boo is a very fussy bu**er when it comes to food 🙄. Which currently we are going through another picky eating phase, but thankfully I can hand feed the to ensure he is still getting the nutrients and joint support he needs 💙

We’ve managed a whole month Mud fever free 🤪 thanks to the turnout boots (and stealing loads of my mums towels from home for leg drying) 😂.

It’s half term week … which means nothing for me as I have no children (apart from the hairy one photod here 😂).

2 happy faces, who managed an hour ride out and dodged the rain! 🥳. It’s safe to say his lordship had missed hacking and had his happy bouncy walk on the whole way and he hadn’t forgotten where those canter tracks were 🙈 (watch my stories to see me holding on tight 😂).

If I’m being completely honest I’ve been feeling a bit guilty…. I sat last night thinking about the fact poor Boo hasn’t been on a hack for some time ☹️. The dark mornings. And the bad weather and the up in our fitness and training I’ve put hacking at the back of my mind and I feel awful for that! 🙈.

So instead of the pole work session I was planning today I thought let’s have a chilled morning together and have a pamper session with our grooming brushes 🖤. Some quality bonding time together to relax and chat 🥰 and make his coat look shiny and feel incredibly soft 🤩

There must be something in the air at the minute as his lordship has got a bit of a bee in his bonnet at the moment 😂. He’s a little bit fired up ….

So so pleased with how relaxed donkey finished on our lunging session this morning 💪🏼 … however I’ve looked through all my notes I make after sessions. 📝 It would seem I always start on the left rein (which he is usually slightly more tense/ more rushed in the trot) 😐. Whereas on his second rein (right rein) he works much nicer, over his back and more relaxed. 🧐 Now I’m wondering wether he has a “worse rein” or wether as he’s worked in more the second rein will always be better 🤔
Something to think about next time we lunge 💭

So for many of you who have been following me for a while will know last year I took the plunge and began studying for the Sᴏᴄɪᴇᴛʏ ᴏғ Mᴀsᴛᴇʀ Sᴀᴅᴅʟᴇʀs ʙʀɪᴅᴇ ᴀɴᴅ sᴀᴅᴅʟᴇ ғɪᴛᴛɪɴɢ ᴄᴏᴜʀsᴇs 🐴 . Today I payed for the final part of my intro to saddlery course … however I have made some changes to where I want my career to go 🙈

As I have been studying my interest has changed from what I initially thought it would be. I find the horses head incredibly interesting. And the more I lead about it (within the bridle course so far) the more intrigued I am. From this I have learnt a small amount about bitting … when again is so interesting! 🧐 And after having Boos dental appointment last month it’s had me thinking about bitting and teeth and the correlation between the 2. 🦷

From this I have decided that I want to turn all my focus on the the horses head for my studies. I will finish both of my intro courses and then continue my bridle fitting, however I want to sideline this with bitting and equine dentistry 😬. I know to many I may seem very indecisive (and I’m ngl I have been questioning myself too). But it’s clear that the stuff sticking in my head the most and what I’m wanting to learn is within this area! 😳 So … should funds and time allow I will continue my focus and studies in this area 💪🏼

As you all know I’ve fed Boo on ever since we’ve had him. After speaking to the team at Blue Chip we were advised that he would be a good candidate for the new 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝑷𝒍𝒖𝒔 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓 💚. I felt super lucky to have been a bag to try for his lordship!

A face like butter wouldn’t melt after his antics this morning 🙄 (if you haven’t seen go watch my stories 😡)

After deciding he didn’t fancy letting me ride this morning Mr Boo then continued to school himself for 25 minutes, around the arena, at an extended trot, gallop oh and he added a few pirouettes and invisible jumps in for good measure … all whilst giving me a heart attack trying to catch and corner him 🫠

At least he redeemed himself by managing 2 full days in the field in his mud fever turn out boots, and he hasn’t come back in broken 💪🏼

A lovley short and sweet schooling session to start the week and check the old man’s feeling alright! We did a simple warm up and as he was very responsive to all my aids and his transitions were smooth I decided to slow it all down and have a relaxed lateral session in walk. Working on some leg yielding and spiralling circles 💪🏼

After our plod out yesterday and him feeling good, we had a little lunging session this morning. Only 15 minutes and most in walk with a few minutes of trot. I want to build his muscle and top line back up, slowly and correctly so that we can get the most out of 2024 💪🏼

It feels nice to be getting back into a routine now. At the yard nice and early to kick out and exercise his lordship before wor🙌🏽

With his lordships legs all better (scans and patches nearly cleared) (and he’s been full of beans on his hand walks) I thought todays hand walk can be done from horse back instead! 😋

A 20 minutes plod (well bounce) … if you saw my stories you’ll see he was rather keen 🤪 in fact he felt so good he decided to fly buck at the bottom of one of the tracks 🙈. We just walked for 25 minutes (bare one small trot up the lane out the way of the car). He threw some strops as he wasn’t allowed to canter on the tracks but he is feeling super. And I think this coming week I will begin bringing him back into proper work again! 🥳

Felt good to have my Vent air deluxe keeping me safe on board today! 💙

𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒍𝒚 ... I set up my (now old account) when is started college, as I thought people would take the mick out of me sharing horse stuff, I was already the “𝑾𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒅 𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍" throughout school 🙈. But as I started to share more and more I made online friends. I finally had people o truly connected with her were as in love with horses as me 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗦 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗚𝗨𝗬𝗦 ❤️

As both Boo and I have grown up and worked and learned together my account has changed with us. I think something I’m getting more confident with is sharing the knowledge I’ve learnt. I quite enjoy helping people with things I’ve shared and learned… be that early last year with the pole exercises and muscle rehab for Boo. Or more recently with feed after doing so much research myself! I’m sure this page will continue to grow and no doubt will probably change again! 🤣

It feels bad that I had to think about this … but this question has really got me thinking 🧐

In 2023 I took the jump to begin studying saddle and bridle fitting. 🐴 This was after I learnt the true impact of a correctly fitting saddle. I also learn the importance of ground work which helped me and Boo connect and grow our bond in a way we never have. 🥰 I learnt how much horses benefit from polework, no matter how simple. 💪🏼 After Boo dropped weight I began researching the ways I can support his weight gain which I then delved deeper to learn what ingredients cause what reaction and what impacts they can have on the horse. 🥣 I’ve learnt about mud fever, the horses mouth. Ive learnt how to ask for flying changes and ride canter to walk 🏇🏽 , oh and I’ve learnt how to clip! 🥳

Recently, as I’ve been trying to get Boos weight up ive spent a lot of time reading and researching different feeds and their ingredients. 🧐 And it’s safe to say it’s worked! 🥳 His weight is now spot on (in my opinion). However we need to build up some muscles again 💪🏼

Boo is fed on 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 💙. Which is formulated from Glucosamine, turmeric and black pepper, which helps his lordship feel his best at the age of 19 😱

Me and Mr Boo like to turn our hooves to a bit of everything. 🐎 We like to just get out and have fun as much as we can, when we can. 𝑯𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 our main passion is showjumping. 🦄 𝗕𝗨𝗧 if you ask Boo he will probably say cross country (which sadly we don’t get he chance to do very often) - he is a powerhouse out on the cross country field 💪🏼

Last year we affiliated with and this is something I’m excited to continue this year as we gained our first championship qualification 😱

I think my favourite thing about showjumping is it’s all down to how that day rides. It’s not a discipline in which the results are based on someone’s opinion (which I kinda see dressage and showing etc to be 😬). Having said that, me and Boo do a lot of schooling at home, to balance and improve our jumping, and therefore it’s quite nice to have feedback from dressage tests etc. 🐪

We’ve survived another year together … and learnt a lot in the last year together. Sadly not spending it with an anniversary hack (we’ve not even ridden this year yet😞) but we did have a good cuddle, groom and play in the sand school to loosen your legs 🤪

This is Boo … and Boo loves himself 😂
Boo is a Bay 19 year old Irish sports horse cross (crossed with what … who knows!) 🤷🏽‍♀️. I have been lucky enough to own Boo 10 years (this year). He’s quite a sensitive boy, but also likes the dramatics 🙄.

✨Boo is a very fussy eater … some days he likes certain treats other days he won’t. And there are very specific ways he likes his breakfast and dinners made 🙄
