Back in 2012 when I started my first internet radio station in Stillwater, New Zealand, I knew there would come a day when no one would be listening to my live podcasts and shows anymore, and when that day came I would hang up my hate and switch off the stations live stream equipment and call it a day.

That day came on Friday 16th September 2022, over 10 years later. I took 2 days to program and advertise my latest show, The World of Classic Rock and normally that would generate about 300+ listeners around the world. It’s not a lot of listeners, I know but DJ’ing to 300+ is still enjoyable and a feeling of self achievement. However, during my 2 hour classic rock show last night (a good one I might add) I did notice zero activity on this page, which was unusual and decided to check the listener links on the streaming server. There were 3 people listening to the show. It seems that there is no more interest in the live radio station by the looks of it. It had to happen one day and it looks like that day has come. It's too much work for a handful of devoted fans!

My true passion is music and it takes a lot of time and dedication to create these shows to air at certain times and because my listener base is so widespread it makes it difficult to cater a live show on a specific day for everybody, I get that. So from this moment on I will be recording shows in my studio in my own free time and publishing them as often as possible as a podcast on Mixcloud.com which is a music on demand service website. People can then listen to my shows when they want and have the time to, and not have to listen because I am streaming live on a certain day and time. Makes sense? I think it does.

So, it looks like it’s time to hit the road.. Thanks for the memories. It was a blast whilst it lasted and thanks to everyone for all your support over the years on The BLENZ 107.4 FM, RBR Rock Radio, Canal Radio UK and Van Life Radio.

This amazing little mixer has a very clever microphone processor built in to make the 'sound' as natural as possible. So far so good. 😎👍 Let us know how the station sounds on your devices!

Phase 1 - The studio desk is built and equipment installed. Started test streaming today from the studio to the internet and all seems to be working okay (go take a listen if you like). Still some tweaking to do and the final output from the mixer is waiting for my fibre install tomorrow and then I should be ready to start going LIVE again! Happy days, Van Life Radio is back! 😎👍

A sneak preview of the 'new VLR studio' space allocated to Van Life Radio in Pembroke, Wales. We will start the build (studio desk, equipment fit and sound proofing) hopefully in August 2022 and LIVE streaming should commence in mid summer! 😎🤙 Exciting times..

VLR has pleasure in releasing its listener data for the first half of 2022. A total of 5,325 listeners were logged in for an average of 25 minutes per session during the first half of 2022. Let's try and double that for the second half of the year! 😎🎤🎧🎼🎸

Sorry for the lack of LIVE shows over the last few weeks but the current studio location is just not working out for a start.. so we are moving to Pembroke in Wales where we have a proper 3m x4m studio lined up. 😎

Once it is established and operational it will be the best location we have streamed from so far with proper sound proofing and genuine studio desk and equipment.

So please bare with us as we move in (July) and keep listening to our automated playlist and announcements on VLR for the next few weeks.
