Volunteers do so much work in our communities, where would we be without them? Da iawn, bobol!

In 1998 a group of villagers met in The Star Inn and agreed to set up a youth club for the children in the village, Wick Youth Club was born.
In the past 25 years our club has made a difference to the lives of 100's of children..
A huge thank you to all of those who have supported our voluntary club.
We had planned to hold a celebration last year but ill health of some of our volunteers has delayed this. Look out for 25+ in 2024.
Some of the original volunteers are still involved with the club today but we need new volunteers to keep the club going , if you'd like to help out call into the club any Wednesday to find out more about us

Wick and Marcross Village Hall was the place to be today to stock up on all things Christmas related - cakes, cards, decorations and even Santa himself dropped by to see the children . Fantastic community atmosphere.

We met with Rhian and Ceri from Age Cymru to talk about their Annual Travel Survey . We were pleased to be able to provide insight from the rural vale perspective, and impressed on them the importance of the 303 to our elderly and vulnerable residents who rely on it completely to go about their daily lives.

We were delighted to be joined by Kanishka Narayan at Vale Cricket Club this weekend for a fabulous dinner and inspiring talk from Richard Parks former Welsh International Rugby player turned extreme endurance athlete . His story was told with sincerity and honesty , being scared most of the time being a great motivator for Richard. Should you ever need a guide to help you get to the South Pole, he’s your man!

Glorious views and a big lunch at The Three Golden Cups!

I enjoyed being back in Southerndown with St Bride's Major Labour, listening to residents about the change they want in Westminster.

Shop Local to Save Your Community.
I spent a lovely morning at the St Brides Church Hall Table Top Sale today where I officially started my Christmas shopping .
Looking forward to Corntown Craft Fayre next Saturday where I will continue the Christmas preparations. Cranberry and sloe gin sauce anyone?

Today we had the pleasure of visiting Wick and Marcross Church of Wales Primary School to talk to Years 5 and 6 about what we do in our role as Councillors. The visit was very timely as the children have been learning about democracy and climate justice , and were very excited to tell us about the things that mattered to them. They were all so well informed and thoughtful, a credit to the school and their parents.

Vale of Glamorgan Council has helped pay for a new boiler, windows and tiling at St Brides Major Church Hall, which means a warm welcome at Coffee & Chat every Saturday morning! This is good news too for the Library and our monthly surgery

Couldn't agree more 👍🏻

Times are tough, and our local businesses are on the frontline.

Company insolvencies are at a peak we've not seen since 2009, hitting our high streets hard.

I have just been to Awesome.Wales - Zero Waste Store for my bread and to show my support for fantastic local shops.

Every loaf of bread, every cup of coffee we buy locally can make a big difference. Do your bit if you can!
