This instrumental version shows us searching, exploring, improvising over the foundation of a hypnotic and exciting Khasi traditional rhythm known as 'Nalai'. It is one of the seven rhythms (Hynñiew Skit) played in the spring dance festival 'Shad Suk Mynsiem' (Dance of Peaceful Hearts) held yearly across the Khasi Hills. The middle section where the guitar follows, as closely as possible, the Khasi drum (Ksing Kynthei) is an attempt to find a place within the gentle yet powerful patterns.
This rhythm not easy to dance to or play is one of our favorites. It has a unique bounce, stuttery but also propelling, delivering energy and inspiring calm at the same time.

We hope you enjoy this raw and honest glimpse into a song in progress.
