This week we wanted to give you some tricks to use when applying for jobs!
1. Utilize your network and resources.
Asking your friends, family, colleagues, and classmates for any recommendations, tips or openings increases your likelihood of being connected to a job.
2. Utilize school and county resources.
Post-secondary schools have career centers that offer free resume assistance and exclusive openings. Local free employment programs (CareerSource) provide free skill development and employment matching.
3. Have a master resume as your foundation.
A master resume has all your previous experience in work, school, volunteer, and extra-curricular. This allows you to adjust your resume according to the job you're applying for. Employers look for someone who has a focus on the industry, relevant skills, and experience.
This week, we wanted to point out some useful tips when hiring new people for your team!
1. Utilize your network and resources.
You are more likely to find someone interested in a job position amongst friends, family, business partners, and customers. States and colleges offer free hiring programs that can match you with entry to mid-level candidates.
2. Utilize free/low-cost social platforms.
Indeed, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram are great social platforms to promote job openings. Indeed, and LinkedIn provides more employer-friendly tools such as preferred skills, applicant filters, and easy outreach.
3. Focus on skills rather than experience.
While obtaining staff that knows how to do the job saves time, the experience can always be taught. Candidates that harbor a strong interest in your business and strong interpersonal skills are just as worthy of an investment.
