It was great chatting with this group of young people about careers and what we do specifically at Black Box! We wish them good luck in whatever job they end up in down the road!
It was a true honor for us to be part of the coverage for this year's Honor Flight Kentucky which allows so many local veterans to see their monuments in the capitol. A moment of reflection, reunion, and remembrance for these men and women. We thank you for your service.
Strange - Dale Blankenship ft. MacLean Entwistle James
Dale and MacLean took a couple of runs at this one under the rocks. A little bit of water dripped on all of us while we were recording, and Dale was sort of standing in a hole, but it was definitely the coolest spot to stand. Dale is planning on having a debut album out this fall, and we're hoping this track will be on it.
Jonathan Pennington of Moonlight Mile has been a good bud to us since we met him shooting at The Burl in Lexington, Kentucky. We were so appreciative of his invitation to come down to his neck of the woods and record some artists he admired. We kicked off recording with this song from Moonlight Mile, which set the tone for the day. Highway sounds were all around us even though we were seemingly deep in the woods. In this environment, Moonlight Mile sits in this in-between space of traditional bluegrass and modern sounds, both artistically and literally. We are thankful every time we get the pleasure of experiencing the unique perspectives of these Appalachian artists.

MEET THE INTERNS
My name is Jay Axsom. I’m a 21-year-old Broadcasting Senior at Eastern Kentucky University, with a minor in English. I’ve always had an interest in entertainment, starting when I was in Elementary school. I discovered several YouTube channels that inspired me to want to create videos and movies of my own, including “Corridor” and “Rocket Jump.” These channels put out videos with amazing quality and I remember wanting to be just like them. Movies like “Kill Bill” and “Se7en” were also huge inspirations to me. It’s important to me to create something with a really clear vision and style, something that is uniquely itself.
My goal is to have the ability to create something that not only I love, but others will love as well. I want to be someone who inspires a kid to pursue a dream like this. I hope that one day I can create the projects that I imagine. I’ve already directed one short film, “The Pinnacle” with the help of a very talented crew. My dream project is a post-apocalyptic film set here in Kentucky, and I hope I can manage to bring this idea to life.

My name is Kenneth Cain, and I am a senior broadcasting and electronic media major at Eastern Kentucky University. I have always wanted to be involved with the entertainment industry for as long as I can remember. In terms of what I'd like to do with videography, I like to do everything. I love shooting, editing, audio work, being on camera, writing plot scenarios, etc. There's nothing more fulfilling for me to do than this work and seeing a finished product. I'm always looking for new experiences and opportunities to learn.

Hi, I’m Noah Schoeller. I’m a Junior at EKU studying general broadcast and electronic media. I grew up in Westfield, Indiana where after I graduated High School decided to take on EKUs BEM major. I currently work at the Panda Express in Richmond and enjoy being active outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and being creative on the side. I’m thankful for the opportunity to learn from hands-on experience in videography and postproduction from Black Box Media this summer. I look forward to the projects we will work on together!

MEET THE INTERNS
Hi, my name is Ethan Howson and I could not be more excited to work with Black Box Media this summer. I’m a rising senior at EKU studying the newly established Documentary Filmmaking program within the Broadcasting Major. I'm a lifetime citizen of Berea, attending the Methodist Church since 2005 and working at the skating rink in Old Town since 2017. I’m currently a coach for the Berea Dolphin swim team and try to spend as much of my free time outside as possible. I’m looking forward to all the opportunities and creative challenges throughout the summer and can’t wait to share some new and exciting local content.

Excited for this weekend! Massive shoutout to Luke Seals for this incredible poster design that’s got us all buzzing with excitement! The guy hand-painted this thing!
Fun Fact: Luke and Reece of are our upstairs neighbors at Black Box with .fruit.jar, and they're kinda two of the nicest folks in town. James isn't too bad, either. Hope to see a bunch of y'all come through to support them and , along with special guest , as we celebrate with our friend , whose recently released album Too Late For Flowers has just jumped over 60k streams on Spotify. Berea has plenty to offer, and we're glad to be a part of it!
