Several of the giveaways were centered around AI as well.
Other features this year included, high school cheerleaders doing face painting, the Parish South girls basketball team volunteering, books for students and teachers, local fire department with fire truck and literature, music by DJ Trajic T, Sheriff's Department volunteering and bringing giveaways, free immunizations, free haircuts, booth with Persevere, a non-profit that teaches web development training and sharing opportunities coding for children and more.
It could not have been possible without our sponsors. YOUR SUPPORT IS TREMENDOUS!!! Thank you for helping to make a difference in the lives of our youth.

Sisters Impacting Savannah, or SIS, hosted its Sixth Annual Back to School Drive on July 22nd. This year’s event was called “Back to School Explosion,” and featured more than backpack giveaways providing traditional supplies such as pencils, pens, notebooks and folders. Organizers of SIS’s back to school event said they usually give out 275-300 backpacks filled with supplies annually. The Darryl Worley Foundation was proud to give a donation to this wonderful event in our community.

2024-2025 School Year Registration Reminder
It us of utmost importance that parents or guardians of incoming Kindergartners, and any students new to Hardin County Schools, register their student as soon as possible or your student may be at risk of not being able to attend when the 2024-2025 school year begins which could create academic, social, and attendance issues.
It is also very important for parents or guardians who currently have a student in the school system to complete the process as well. This ensures that your student’s school has an updated address, updated phone numbers, updated emergency contact information, updated information concerning who can and cannot check your student out of school, updated medical information as well as other important information.
If you have registered your student and you made an out-of-zone request during the registration process, an email will be sent by July 31 if all the necessary documents have been received.
To register your child, please visit the Hardin County Schools district website at hardincoschools.com. Click on the “Registration” link at the top of the page, and then follow the directions.
If you need assistance, please contact Mrs. Tammy Stricklin or Mrs. Cassie Weeks at the Hardin County Board of Education at (731) 925-3943.

Happy Juneteenth!!
Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas.
Juneteenth is a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It is also called Emancipation Day or Juneteenth Independence Day. The name “Juneteenth” references the date of the holiday, combining the words “June” and “nineteenth" as it was on June 19, 1865.
