Photos from finals day
And that's all folks !! What a great day. Some wonderful shooting from all the archers on finals day, well done and congratulations. There is a lot to process after this outing, some learnings, things to work on and good friendships made and renewed.
Taking home a silver in the South Australian Grand Prix and a silver in the Oceania Champs Mixed Teams Barebow π₯π₯
Matchplay elimination day was another big test. Had some brilliant moments, but unfortunately a few slips at crucial moments. Ended 4th behind the fantastic Nicky Luis in the individual matchplay. Thank you to all the Barebow women for the fantastic time and camaraderie.
No photos other than the misty start to the day, Andrew too busy being a fantastic support and arrow spotter... hopefully I don't make you do any more stormtrooper impersonations today.
On to the gold medal match for the Mixed Teams event π
Photos from 720 Championship ranking day.
Thank you Andrew Fong
Photos from South Australian Grand Prix (and a little bit of sight seeing at the top of Mt Lofty)
Had the pleasure of shooting in the South Australian grandprix today, a competition within a competition π. Good chance to regroup. Still a battle with my process but managed to pull it together when it mattered to finish with a silver π₯Fantastic matches again today with Nicky Luis and finals with Nicky Fairweather.
Two more days to go... tomorrow is the individual and Mixed team elimination matches, and Sunday finals.
Well, 720 (times two) of the Oceania Champs done and it was definitely a day of two halves. Finished the morning round 3 points behind the leader, shots were good and felt like I had my process under control. On top of the Rollercoaster... then unfortunately came crashing down when the demons I've been battling in my shot process all came rushing back. Finished 4th.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, but the silver lining is that I still qualified for the Mixed Teams matchplay (based on the morning results).
It was fantastic watching Nicky Luis who came into her stride in the afternoon to take the bronze medal. Well done!!
Good to shoot with Elizabeth Hole (Aus) and Margaret Melue (Solomon Isl.)
Photos to follow π
Registration and practice day today. Good to get the first few arrows away and settle the nerves. Always great to catchup with old friends and make some new friends along the way.
Thank you Andrew Fong for the amazing pictures, encouragement and reminders to trust the process.
And we're off. Leaving a wet and windy Auckland for the World Archery Oceania champs in Adelaide. I'm a as ready as I'm going to be, and looking forward to wearing the silver fern and representing over the next 5 days. See you on the other side!!
What an incredibly proud moment to be officially presented with my Archery New Zealand team (Silver Fern) shirt. The culmination of a fantastic weekend at the 2023 ANZ Team training camp. I am so proud to be able to finally represent New Zealand in a few weeks and will stand extra tall wearing The Black Shirt.
What a massive honour to once again be selected to represent New Zealand at the 2023 World Archery Oceania Tournament.
I was lucky enough to be selected in 2020, but unfortunately, the event didn't go ahead for reasons we have all become far too familiar with. Training is now in full swing for 2023 in Adelaide.
Team announcement!
The Archery NZ Teams to attend the 2023 Trans Tasman Challenge and the 2023 World Archery Oceania Tournaments to be held in Adelaide in April are announced. Read the names of these hard-working athletes here: https://www.archerynz.co.nz/news/team-announcement-2/
This is exactly what you're meant to do the night before a completion, right??
Another fantastic event at Lakeview Archers NZ for the Auckland District Archery Association Field Champs. Thank you Christine for your hospitality as always and for putting on such perfect weather :D
Had heaps of fun as always!!
What a fantastic weekend at Manawatu Archery Club for the 49th Indoor Nationals Championship. While my archery needs a bit more consistency at the moment, I had an amazing time as always travelling and shooting with a fantastic group of archers and friends. Always great to catch up with those we don't see very often. The atmosphere at these events is always positive and energetic (despite the very long, late ranking day).
I am so very proud to be club captain at Mountain Green Archery Club, you guys did AMAZING!!
Finished with Silver in the Barebow Senior Women - congratulations and well deserved to Nicky Luis on your gold
And then managed a respectable 4th in the Open Mixed Matchplay with a very strong group of Barebow archers.
Lovely weekend in Cambridge shooting in a great new addition to the archery calendar - River Glade Archers 12-Spot Challenge.
I had moments of brilliance, just need to work on the consistency :D Hope to see many more Barebow archers next year.
Finished 2nd in Barebow and won my very first ever prize money.
Thank you to Dennis Bryce for putting us up for the night, always great catching up with you and Adrienne - the Spa pool was a great ending for the day.
Day 3 done, and glad to put my feet up after three days of Field Archery. Thank you Mt Tiger Archers for hosting a fantastic event. Adult Female Barebow Recurve Pacific Regional Champion, and NZ Marked Nationals (as well as a bunch of NZ Field records from the last year π). Lovely to meet some of the Ausies and always great shooting with Kelly, Kerry and Mike.
Day 2... not so many pictures today, a little wet π§
As always out having fun
Day 1 of the NZFAA Marked Nationals & IFAA Pacific Regional Field Archery Championship 2022. Great day, great weather, great company. Looking forward to the rest of the weekend
Archery New Zealand have caught up on the last 2 years worth of records, I am going to need a bigger wall π
Another great day shooting NZFAA Marked Series - Round 3 Animal Round at Whitford Forrest Archers with Kelly Atkinson, Regan Walters and Miles Neighbour. Now for the Pacific Regional champs and Marked Nationals next month. It's going to be good!!!
Always fantastic shooting with you Nicky Luis, and the barebow boys :D
We could not have asked for a better day to finish up the 2021-2022 Summer outdoor Target season. Major: Ultimate Qualifier - Dbl 720, a full line of archers and perfect weather.
Reasonably happy with my shooting, just focused on enjoying the day out with friends.
Still a lot going on, with the NZFAA field Marked series and upcoming Pacific Regional champs and Marked Nationals and then heading indoors for Target indoor season.
No rest for the wicked :D
Fantastic autumn day shooting the NZFAA Marked Series - Round 2 at Franklin County Archers, New Zealand yesterday. Beautiful weather, great company and an all round gorgeous day. Looking forward to round 3 and the upcoming Marked Nationals and Pacific regional.
Thank you Auckland Archery Club for a great North Island Champs 2022. Not my personal best but had a great time in gorgeous weather with wonderful company.
Gold Barebow Open Women, Gold Mixed Teams Matchplay, Gold Teams Matchplay, Bronze Open (mixed) Individual Matchplay
Day 2 NZFAA Bowhunter Nationals at Franklin County Archers, New Zealand . Another fantastic day. Thank you to all the organizers and everyone who did the work putting together another fantastic round. Finished the Nationals with a 1st Adult Female Barebow Recurve, as well as first in the bowhunter series, but as always I measure my success by how I ranked with the boys and there I would have been second so super happy with my shooting this weekend.
Day 1 of the NZFAA Bowhunter Nationals at Whitford Forrest Archers . Fantastic to be out shooting, perfect weather and great people to spend the day with. Looking forward to day 2, but right now putting my feet up.
So, there's this :D
Highest Ranked Barebow archer in the country - woohoo
What a fantastic event. 2022 ADAA Target Championships done and dusted. Matchplay day today with Individual round robin and Mixed teams matchplay. The weather definitely kicked it up a notch, it was sweltering in the bowl at Mountain Green Archery Club . I came away with Gold in the Open 50m Barebow (mixed with 9 archers this year, fantastic to see this division growing), and gold in the Mixed Teams with David Wright. Congratulations to Nicky Luis on taking the ADAA Ladies Barebow trophy for 2022. It was fantastic shooting with you.
