Salem South Lyon District Library gets Save A Life Station . . .
Thanks to a partnership between with South Lyon Community Coalition , ACHC and Oakland Community Health Network the library now has a "Save A Life Station" near its front door.

The box provides the community with free and open access to vital items, such as doses of naloxone ( brand name: Narcan) - a nasal spray designed to rapidly reverse the effects of a life-threatening opioid emergency. The box also contains safe disposal kits and informational resources. Everything is available 24-7.

ACHC has installed 100 of these lifesaving boxes in Oakland County.

We want to say a huge thank you to the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities and the South Lyon Community Coalition for partnering with us in order to teach our community about opioids and inform how to properly administer Intra-Naloxone, the overdose reversal drug.

It was a successful day at Abbey Park at Mill River! SLCC was on site to dispose of expired and unused prescriptions. THREE.SIX POUNDS of pills were properly disposed using the Deterra System.

Keeping old or expired medication around can increase the risk of unintentional ingestion. This is a risk for seniors who may have difficulty reading labels or remembering which medications to take. This can be particularly dangerous for medicines that are harmful even in small doses.

Join the movement for a healthier community! SLCC works continuously to evaluate the needs of our community and bring programs and resources to reduce the substance issues among youth and adults.
