I hate to say this, but a big mistake Owner-Operators and Fleet Owners make is that they get really excited about doing more loads for higher pay - but they don’t actually make any money.

Many truckers fall into the trap of trying to “grow” out of their financial troubles. The problem is, they think that there’s some imaginary revenue threshold that they must cross before they can earn the income they want for themselves.

Your primary focus as the owner of your business should be profit - not revenue. As an Accountant who’s worked with hundreds of Owner-Operators and trucking Fleet Owners, I have seen individual Owner-Operators doing $100k a year in revenue net more profit than Fleet Owners with 10 trucks doing $1 million a year in sales.

That’s because revenue is only one of the many factors in the profit equation.
