Each club is expected to put together a team to compete in the National Iceball League and is responsible for the cost of their regular season home games.

Clubs can start having preseason meetings as early as October 2023 and are permitted to run their activities after their first club meeting.
National Iceball League regular season games can begin as early as January 2024 with the top 4 eligible teams qualifying for the championship tournament in Toronto in May 2024 at a venue to be announced later.
Championship eligibility requirements are that teams must play a minimum of 4 regular season games (2 home and 2 away) and must have played all other eligible teams at least once with all players competing in the tournament having played a minimum of 4 games.
Teams are permitted to play up to 20 regular season games and if there are more than 4 eligible teams then total number of wins will determine the playoff qualifiers.

Plans have changed again for the inaugural National Iceball League season. The details still have to be confirmed, but these are the current plans Iceball Association is moving forward with.

Season Format:
6 Teams based in Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Kitchener, London, and Kingston.
10 Game regular season where each team plays 2 games against each opponent. (1 Home and 1 Away)
Regular season games are played once a week on Saturdays starting October 1 and ending December 3.
Top 4 teams qualify for the playoff tournament with a 1 VS 4 and 2 VS 3 semifinal with winners playing in the championship game on December 10 at a host venue to be announced later.

Player Registration:
Each team will host a tryout tournament in August.
Tournament registration costs $200 per player and a minimum of 3 short games of iceball will be played by each team.
Tournament winners become free agents and can agree to play for any team in the league while all other players can declare eligibility to be drafted by all or only some teams as long as the host of their tournament is one of them unless an exception is granted. (Free agents can also choose to enter the draft and are not required to declare draft eligibility for the host of their tournament)
Players that make a team will receive payment based on ticket sales revenue from the games they play.
Players that enter the draft, but don't get drafted, become free agents.
Players that don't make a team get free tickets and early access to tickets for all games the host team of their tournament plays in including the playoff tournament if the team qualifies.

The full draft order is still to be determined, but will be based on the order that the teams get confirmed in and Toronto and Ottawa will have the first 2 picks as they were the first 2 teams planned to compete in the league. As details get confirmed, more announcements will be made.

Changes are being made to the iceball club programs. The regular drop-in games are not going to happen this season, but there will still be occasional drop-in games to give people a chance to try out the game.

Registration will now be $600 and each club has a maximum limit of 40 registrations. Registration includes:

Automatically on the roster of the competitive team and can attend all practices, but is not guaranteed playing time in NIL games as a maximum of 24 players per team can be on the roster for each game.
Receives payment for each NIL game played based on revenue from ticket sales.
Free access to games you don't play in.
Jerseys that you get to keep.
Discounts on club merchandise when it becomes available.
Free access to drop-in games when they occur.

In compliance with public health orders, all club members and players in drop-in games must be fully vaccinated or have a medical exemption for the 2022 season. The plan is to have a 20 game regular season with the top 4 teams qualifying for the playoffs which will have a best of 7 series format. Most games are going to be on Fridays and Saturdays. March 2022 is the target to start the regular season.

Iceball Association is excited to announce a long-term goal to create a professional league for iceball called the National Iceball League. The NIL is still a few years away from starting play, but planning has already begun and the league has a logo designed by Armand Ali. The number of teams in the NIL hasn't been confirmed yet but the first season will be played with a minimum of 4 teams and a maximum of 8 and the first team being planned will be organized by Joel Waddell planning to play in Toronto, Ontario. The NIL will also help Iceball Association in its mission to raise awareness for misophonia as the league and its teams develop a fan base growing the platform to raise awareness.

When iceball was first played on March 30, 2019 there were two short games played to test it out and this is the end of the first game. The score on the scoreboard at the end isn't accurate because there was a goal scored that wasn't put on the scoreboard and if there's a scoring chance at the end of a period and the clock runs out the period ends after the scoring chance has passed so the goal at the end counts and the actual final score of the first game was 14-10 Home.

Iceball Association aims to organize and run events involving the new sport iceball and to use the game as a platform for misophonia awareness. There will be posts coming with pictures and videos from times that iceball was played as well as posts about misophonia and other things that reflect the values that Iceball Association was built on. For those that don't know what misophonia is, misophonia is basically a sensitivity to specific sounds that trigger reactions that can be emotional and physical reactions, however, the triggers are not limited to auditory triggers as in some cases there can be visual triggers as well. The first big event that is being planned for Iceball Association is a charity game to raise awareness for misophonia and, by selling tickets to the game, raise money for misophonia research and awareness initiatives. Iceball Association is being founded in partnership with Ministry Motion to achieve it's mission to contribute to needs of others. Details on the charity game will be announced as they get confirmed and there won't be any events scheduled until things open up from the current pandemic, but there will be smaller events planned when things open up to give people the opportunity to play iceball so feel free to message us if you're interested in trying iceball even if you don't want to commit to the charity game.
