🤱 C L U S T E R… F E E D I N G 🤱 Cluster feeding is a very common pregnancy subject, I won’t call it a challenge as although it can feel like that at times, I feel it is important to remind Mothers that like most other common infant behaviours it serves a purpose and lasts a very minimal amount of time! So what is cluster feeding? Cluster feeding is the term given to the typical feeding pattern that we see in so many new babies, these feeding patterns present themselves as baby wanting to feed very frequently (it may seem like one constant feed) for several hours, usually during the evening time, baby May seem more unsettled than usual and only settle when feeding. NONE of these behaviours suggest low milk supply- which is something that lots of mothers question, in actual fact these behaviours are totally normal and serve a purpose- To boost/increase milk supply! So… tips for Mummas with babies that cluster feed- remind yourself that this is just a phase and will pass, stock up on snacks and fluids, get comfortable, don’t be afraid to ask friends and family for help during ‘cluster feeding sessions’ particularly if you have other children and it falls around teatime, and try to relax and enjoy this precious time with your baby. #breastfeeding #breastfeedingsupport #lactation #clusterfeeding #feeding #infantfeeding #infantfeedingspecialist #antenatalclass #antenatalcourse #antenatal #doula #birthdoula #birthsupport #inclusivebirth #birthingpartner #hypnobirthing #hypnobirthingpractitioner #hypnobirth #onlinecourses #facetoface #firstreelwentwrong #secondreel

LETS TALK INDUCTIONS… Did you know that the number of Women being induced in the U.K. has risen by over 23% in the last five years?! Over 31% of births are now induced, this is over the recommended limit given by the World Health Organisation. What is an induction of Labour? Induction of Labour is when health professionals try to bring labour on synthetically, there are typically three stages to induction. 1. Membrane sweep (stretch and sweep) 2. Gel pessary 3. Intravenous drip During stages two and three, mothers are given a form of synthetic Oxytocin which should Stimulate the uterus to begin contracting and hence bring on Labour. However on many occasions these forms of induction aren’t necessarily successful as there are lots of components at play…. Such as the ripeness of the cervix, positioning of baby etc. The current Government guidelines for pregnant women in the U.K. Is that pregnancy should not continue past 42 weeks, and at this point mothers will be offered an induction. HOWEVER, just because the current guidelines suggest an induction, it does not make it mandatory. Many women feel they ‘had no choice’ than to have an induction as they were put off waiting for baby to come naturally by certain medical teams and their medical jargon, this isn’t a post to encourage mothers to decline inductions, rather it is a post to encourage mothers to do their research, understand the risks of induction as well as continuation of pregnancy past 42 weeks, and have the ability and knowledge to confidently voice their concerns, needs and wishes without any judgement. The message remains the same… YOUR BODY, YOUR BABY, YOUR BIRTH, YOUR CHOICE! #birth #birthingwisdom #birthrights #betterbirth #pregnant #pregnancy #inductionoflabour #birthingknowledge #breastfeeding #breastfeedingsupport #birthsupport #birthingpartner #doula #birthdoula #doulauk #antenatal #antenatalcare
