Phacelia! What a wonderful plant for the bees. Today I've seen several bumble, solitary and honey bees on our phacelia bed. Our bees take it in turns to collect either nectar or black pollen from these flowers. So relieved to see a few more different species today too! Oh - and a pigeon nesting in the apple tree! She thinks if she stays really still I won't see her!

Does any know where we can get these tamper labels made for our honey. Our previous supplier has retired and we don't have the pdf. They are 10mm wide and 90mm long.
We've tried Wessex print but he can't do them.

Our bees have been very well behaved this year after a wet and windy start! We thought that Queen Cuckoo, a newly emerged queen , was swarming a couple of weeks ago...but in fact we were witnessing her mating flight ...very exciting!
We should be getting some spring (soft set) honey soon ... now the oil seed r**e has gone over!
Watch this space ... 🐝

Our bees are busy in the garden today!
We tried to follow a bee through the undergrowth of the garden to see how many dandelions she visited to fill her pollen baskets. We counted 6 flowers and she disappeared... either back to her hive or maybe another dandelion across the lawn.

It's the small things in life that make the world go round 🌎 🐝

Stock check:- After supplying our 'Terminator' race winners with local Pewsey Honey as part of their prize package (what a lovely idea!) - we are down to our last 3 jars of soft set honey (12oz/340g)!
We do have several of our beautiful long handmade tapered candles available for Mother's Day/special occasion dinner gifts.
Our bees were out in force today - on next door's Goat Willow - bringing in lots of pollen. Most looked to be young foragers which bodes well for our 4 home colonies! Fingers crossed for some good spring weather 🤞🐝

Please be vigilant! These are a huge threat to our native bees and pollinators. Try and take a photo if you see one and report via Asian Hornet Watch

Bee..zy day! We've had to take some spring honey supers off the hives today as we can't reach the top of the stack to add another one! 😄

18/05/2023

After a very cold and wet early spring our bees are now in full foraging mode! At the moment the bees are bringing in mainly hawthorn, oil seed r**e and the last of the dandelions. Spring set honey!
Rob looks happy adding a fourth super to Queen Caroline's hive!

Today Rob has made 6 more candles ready for the Christmas Fayre at the Bouverie Hall on Saturday. Each candle is individually hand dipped to make beautiful beeswax tapered candles. These are made from cappings from our honey harvest this year (from our garden in Pewsey), filtered through a home made solar wax melt device, dipped 22 (or more) times in molten wax. It is a labour of love. Come and visit us at the Fayre to see all our honey and wax products!

Our Christmas gift boxes are ready! We have a limited number due to box supplies. Order soon or visit us at the local Christmas Fayres!
