Today, after a long campaign season, I was sworn in as the new 5th District Clare County Commissioner. While my term won't officially start until January 1st, 2023, it was great to take another step forward towards that day. After the swearing in ceremony I was able to get a tour of what will be the new Board of Commissioners room and I will say that it is looking great. After the renovation is complete, the new room will definitely be better equipped to handle the needs of the board and the public.

I want to first of all thank all of my supporters. Without your trust and belief in the ideals behind our campaign none of this would be possible. I would also like to thank Sandy for a well fought race. Tonight is the culmination of many of months of hard work on all sides.

With this in mind and the unofficial results out I am proud to announce that tonight we have won the general election! I am honored to have the trust of my fellow citizens of the 5th district and I promise that I will continue to work hard as I take the chair as the 5th District County Commissioner for a better and brighter future in Clare County!

There are only 30 minutes left until polls close. Don't forget to have your voice heard!

Today I was able to exercise my right to decide who would represent my community in our government. This chance to share my opinion on the direction that I feel our county should take is a solemn and sacred one. The reason why, despite all the tension and the turmoil that our nation is suffering through, that the United States of America is still the greatest nation on Earth is simply that We the People decide who serves us.

Government exists to serve its people, and in America, the grand experiment in democracy, in representative government, is still running strong. Around the world there are places where people are not so lucky. Instead, they face oppression and governments that love nothing more than controlling even the most basic of human rights.

The importance of this day cannot be overemphasized. Every two years, we head to the polls and show the world a better path forward. One where freedom and liberty light the lives of those desperate for a better future. America in 2022 is still that shining city on the hill and by voting you make that light even brighter.

If you haven't had the chance yet today, for whatever reason, I would encourage you to take a few moments out of your everyday life and do something that will make the world a better place for all people. Go vote.

I am headed out to Hamilton Township tonight for their monthly meeting. Hope to see you there!

I would like to clarify something that was said in today's Clare County Cleaver. While many local issues are nonpartisan and can be handled by an elected representative of either political party, the position of County Commissioner is in itself a partisan elected office. While I understand the desire not to claim party affiliation in this divisive time, I believe that the people deserve to know the whole truth.

On November 8th, the citizens of the 5th District will have a choice between myself, the Republican nominee, and my opponent who is the Democratic party's nominee.

This statement is simply one to better inform my fellow residents of the 5th district and should not be viewed as anything else.

I was out in Franklin Township for their monthly meeting. There was a discussion about looking into changing the audit from a bi-yearly to a yearly audit and the impact of the implementation of BS&A software.

Today's Board of Commissioners' meeting went well. The board heard from a few concerned citizens on some issues before moving onto presentations by Community Mental Health and the Equalization Department. As part of the presentation by the Equalization Department the board approved the apportionment report and the L4029 in order to spread the tax roll.

There were also motions made to accept 2 grants, one for the Veterans' Affairs department ($72,100) and one from the Region VII Area Agency on Aging ($255973).

The Board of Commissioners also approved the purchase of a new maintenance truck for $64,500 with money to come from the Building Department and Senior Services' funds.

Other motions included the approval of filling an Assistant Prosecutor's position with a yearly salary of $65,000 and a motion to increase phone stipend to the Animal Shelter employees to $30 a month from $25. The phone stipend's monthly approval was then put under the Administrator's discretion approval list.

With all the votes in for tonight's Republican Primary Election, I am happy to announce that I have secured the Republican Nomination for the 5th District County Commissioner's race. I would like to thank my opponent for a well fought race. I would also like to thank my team and all of my supporters. Without your efforts, hard-work, and support, this dream would not have become a reality.

Tonight's victory is a great first step in our efforts to create a better and brighter future for our community. Moving forward, as we head into the General Election in November, I would ask for your continued support in our campaign. It will take all of us rolling up our sleeves and getting down to work, but together, I know that we can, and will, succeed!

Every two years, our nation heads to the polls to weigh in on the issues and to decide who will represent our values in government. Growing up it was impressed on me the importance and how special this day of the year is for the future of this great nation. Our government is formed/run/controlled by the people, for the people, and with the consent of the people that it serves. Our choices today will determine the path America takes for the next two years.

Tonight, I voted once again at the Frost Township Hall and was voter #270. There is still about 15 minuets left before the polls close. If you haven't already taken time to head out to vote there is still time for you to have your voice heard.
