The immersive Into the Light experience created by our client & strategic partner Guiding Paws is so cool!👨🦯 Thanks to Tactical Safety Solutions for donating the trailer💯 Stay tuned for photos & videos of Into the Light in action!
We're excited that our new Into the Light experiential trailer donated by strategic Tactical Safety Solutions has arrived!
We developed this unique immersive experience here in Wichita, and are now bringing it to schools, colleges, businesses, and community events.
A guide leads visitors in small groups through different settings in absolute darkness in a custom trailer provided by our strategic partner Tactical Safety Solutions. Through this experience, visitors learn how to interact without sight but by using their other senses, as well as experience what it is like to be blind.
Guiding Paws founder Andrew Crane will also give a presentation on how his guide dog assists him as a blind person. Following the presentation, he will demonstrate how to use the cane and his guide dog to find a chair and other items that others might think he would need help with accessing.
People will see that disability does not mean lack of ability. The experience aims to change mindsets on disability and diversity , as well as increase tolerance for “otherness”.

Something I've noticed over the years:
Many who roll their eyes at the mention of using visualization to help reach their goals spend a lot of time imagining all the ways they're going to fail.
Then they use those imagined failings to justify not even trying. Ironic, huh? They're actually using visualization, but to their detriment.
Henry Ford summed it up perfectly: “Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right.”
The more you visualize something and see it in your mind, the more you believe it to be true.
This episode is to help you use that fact to reach your dreams instead of sabotaging yourself!

Bottom line: Steve teaches the necessary MINDSET to identify what your goals LOOK like, FEEL like, SOUND like, SMELL like and even TASTE like.
Join me & Steve to learn more about how you can create your own future through visualization and how his own journey was interrupted by a $3 bucket of golf balls and a thunderstorm.
Some people quit when they hear no or encounter seemingly impenetrable obstacles. Not Jon King.
From the military to Microsoft, entrepreneurship, and non-profit founder, he's spent his adult life refusing to take no for an answer and taking unexpected routes to success.
Example: he moved from the Air Force to the Army in order to become a Blackhawk pilot.
He also combines cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence (AI) with timeless people skills to succeed in his current ventures:
In the wake of profound personal loss, he channeled his resilience and entrepreneurial spirit into founding not one, but two ventures, the for-profit Veteran Reach Back Group and nonprofit Eagle Rising Foundation. These organizations mark the beginning of a visionary journey in mentorship and community enrichment, revolutionizing how knowledge and guidance are shared.
You'll also be able to see Jon on TV soon: he's slotted to be on the entrepreneur boot camp reality show "The BLOX" in the coming months.
Join me & Jon to learn more about his inspiring journey and how you can overcome your own challenges and succeed against all odds!
9/11 survivor Michael Hingson was born blind.
A "surprising truth" he had learned from years of walking with guide dogs ended up helping save his life that day: "being afraid can be a positive thing, one that prepares us to deal with any situation that befalls us."
Michael was working a normal day in management for a tech company on the 78th floor of World Trade Center Tower 1 when the plane struck.
People throughout the world later heard the seemingly miraculous story of Michael and his guide dog Roselle not only escaping the building but also helping save others' lives.
I say "seeming miraculous" because Michael's and Roselle's preparation actually made the life-saving escape possible.
They walked down 78 flights of stairs in the "calm and focused" manner that Michael uses every day to operate in a world built for the sighted. And they used that calm and focus to help the sighted people around them.
While the rest of us dash throughout our days hardly paying attention to what's happening around us, Michael pays attention to every tiny detail. He can't afford to panic even on a normal day.
His upcoming book, "Live like a Guide Dog: True Stories from a Blind Man and His Dogs about Being Brave, Overcoming Adversity, and Moving Forward in Faith," will help you prepare for any adversity that may arise in life.
The book won't be out until later this year but you can start learning from Michael right now!
This episode is very special to me because I know how much you can learn: my father was blind and as an adult I've realized just how much I learned from living with him. My sisters & I have been told we're "hyper vigilant." We call it paying attention to details so we can be prepared.
Join me & Michael as we talk about things like how you can:
- Get equipped for whatever obstacles or challenges you may encounter as you make your way through the world.
- Train yourself to be brave, just like a guide dog’s training equips handler and dog to prepare for the unexpected.
- Learn to use your natural fear reactions as a way to focus and concentrate to make better decisions and turn your fear into courage and confidence.
- Apply 11 principles Michael has learned with his guide dogs to overcome the fears that you face every day.
You can preorder "Live Like a Guide Dog" at the link below, and don't miss this episode that can help change your life!

When I met Doug in 2020, an award-winning TV series he wrote, acted in, and directed (Landing Home) was close to launching. Since then I've admired how he uses his creativity not only in a successful career, but also to help tell stories that need to be told.

Aligning your skills, interests, and values is key to doing fulfilling work.
In 2007 Jan Barlow experienced the joy of being at the height of her business development career, working for a global pharmaceutical company in a position that aligned with her strengths. Three months later, after being assigned a new manager, she was positioned to fail.
Forcing herself to work in a changed position, of which she was not aligned, created so much stress it manifested itself physically and caused her great loss personally and professionally.
After experiencing the negative psychological and physical effects of a bad job fit, Jan vowed as her life’s work to help position other people in their strengths.
In 2009, she launched the non-profit organization, Better Job Fit. Through its 4 brands of services, Better Job Fit’s mission is to facilitate individual, transformative change, while creating social impact for good.

2023 was a lonnnggg hard year but we made it! Thankful for another year with 💕 After a lifetime with only 1 hospitalization, it was a year of catch-up for him 😂 Goal: kick that new trend to the curb🥾& get back to walking 18 holes🏌️♂️

It’s easy to be thankful for “good” things.
I’m also thankful for valuable lessons learned from hardships (last on my list isn’t really a hardship lol). They’re what build strength.
- losing my Aunt before I was 2y/o taught me to value my sisters. I knew I could lose them at any moment. (love u .k.sandoval & ❤️)
- growing up with Daddy being blind taught me that the only thing that could stop me would be my own self-limiting expectations.
- losing Grandpa to su***de when I was 5 & almost losing Grandma to it 3yrs later taught me that life is precious & fighting for my mental health isn’t selfish. It’s also fighting for my family. And ironically it helped lead to @11.11veteranproject & helping others.
- watching Mama manage to be so positive & faithful while grieving the loss of her sister & father, and dealing with the years-long after-effects of nearly losing her mother, taught me resilience & true strength.
- my sisters & I having to do work that was typically “boys’ work” taught me that I’m strong & that less shouldn’t be expected of me because I’m a girl. We felt equal in every way.
- growing up low income taught me resourcefulness & that having the right brand names and toys isn’t key to happiness.
- caring for my FiL with Alzheimer’s for 8+ yrs taught me what I needed to know to then care for Mama for 4+ years.
- caring for both of them taught me what I needed to know to now help my husband with his own journey thru memory problems 🙏🏻❤️
- and a funny one that wasn’t really a hardship: fighting silently w/ Anita in another room after Daddy told us we would both be grounded if we didn’t stop fighting taught me that sometimes people fight b/c they’re bored or they just enjoy it & that Daddy didn’t really care if we fought but didn’t want to hear it 😂 Lessons about human nature!
What lessons learned from hardships are you thankful for?
Happy Veterans Day to my husband Tom Brown and all others who’ve served 🇺🇸💛 Thank you for your service!
Great meeting yesterday with 2 VIP’s at Racing for Heroes!
Daryl’s crowdfunding platforms have helped raise over $250million for 200k+ campaigns since 2008!
A successful crowdfunder doesn’t just happen. Even if you have a great product or cause, you’ll just get crickets if you don’t bring “the crowd.”
But how do you do that?
How do you entice visitors to back you once they find you?
How can you keep backers excited and encourage them to spread the word?
Daryl Hatton knows, and he’s sharing his insider info here.
In 2008 he founded ConnectionPoint, a brand family that includes FundRazr, CoCoPay, Crowdfundr, Petfundr, and Sponsifi crowdfunding platforms.
That's before the average user even knew what a crowdfunder was!
There are few people who know the world of crowdfunding as well as he does. That means this is a don't-miss episode if you're interested in crowdfunding, whether for a cause or for your business.
He's also one of the 50 entrepreneurs featured in my book Disrupt Your Now. If you haven't read it learn more about that and the companion workbook, Disrupt My Now, here: https://disruptyournow.com.
50 years in the future race car driver Colin Garrett reunites with Veterans he helped during his pro racing career...
Ryan Garrett & I met Sensiil Studios' founder Aniekanabasi White when he won the inaugural 11/11 Veteran Project pitch competition at Iowa Veterans Entrepreneurship Conference in June.
Now Colin is a character in Basi's next graphic novel and supporting a crowdfunder for publishing costs.
For each 500 copies sold, Colin will put another Veteran Owned small businesses on his car in 2024. https://www.audacy.com/connectingvets/news/vet-owned-comic-book-studio-pays-it-forward
If you're looking for a unique Christmas gift or just want to support the military community, check out the crowdfunder at the link in the first comment.
Paying it forward - that's the spirit of 11/11 Veteran Project!
Vet owned comic book studio pays it forward with 11/11 Veteran Project National Champion race car driver Colin Garrett and the 11/11 Veteran Project has partnered with Sensiil Studios, the first black-owned veteran-owned comic book company in Iowa and Nebraska, for a crowdfunder.
When a Veteran Owned comic studio connects with a pro race car driver interesting things happen.
After winning a pitch competition for Sensiil Studios to be on Colin Garrett's 11/11 Veteran Project race car, founder Aniekanabasi White created a character based on Colin for his new cyberpunk graphic novel.
Now they've partnered to give other Veteran and Military Spouse Owned businesses the opportunity to win a spot on Colin's race car in 2024.
For every 500 books bought through the crowdfunder, another business that's in Veterans Growing America will win a spot on the car!
Who do you know that would benefit from national exposure?

What better time for a business to implode?
A global pandemic is unleashing while you have a newborn baby as a single mother. The hospital won’t even let you take the baby home because of the health risk.
Sounds like an apocalyptic movie script but that’s the time in CharlyndaJean Scales’ life that we met.
She literally told me at the time, “my rock bottom has a trampoline.” She knew she would succeed, just didn’t know how yet.
Thanks to her resilience, Mutt's Sauce is thriving so you can still get her Grandfather’s secret sauce. And that’s now just one of her ventures.
Resilient, smart, resourceful, honest, and loyal are just a few of the adjectives I would use to describe Charlynda.
If you need inspiration in your entrepreneurial journey, or really life in general, you MUST read her new book Rock Bottom Has a Trampoline!
Charlynda shares her amazing journey *on her way to the top* rather than after reaching it.
While you can still relate to her & know she’s real.
While the bruises are still fresh & still coming.
While you know if she can do it you can, too.
Believe me, there will be plenty more for her to write about as she continues her trek to the summit. After that you can watch the movie 😁
I was so impressed with her resilience & commitment to her family and her own personal mission, she’s one of the 50 entrepreneurs featured in my 2021 book Disrupt Your Now.
While you’re waiting for your copy of her book to arrive, you can get a taste of her story & personality from her latest appearance on my live show: https://lisakippsbrown.com/videos/bouncing-back-from-rock-bottom-charlynda-scales/
Too many businesses look at sponsorships as expenses rather than strategic opportunities to grow and collaborate. But then you have founders like Donnell Johns who truly understand how to harness the power.
Founder of Veterans Growing America, Donnell has been able to leverage a spot on pro race car driver Colin Garrett’s car to reach enviable goals. He says, "Veterans Growing America went from doing one day popup events to a storefront in a premium shopping center in Northern Virginia, adjacent to Apple and Starbucks."
Johns, a Retired Army Command Sergeant Major, founded VGA in 2019 to provide a forum for Veteran and Military Spouses to showcase and grow their businesses.
VGA has experienced exponential grown & has already helped over 2200 Veteran & Military Spouse owned business generate almost $1.3million.
Even large corporations are notorious for not using sponsorships effectively, like treating motorsports sponsorships as rolling billboards. Donnell knew that raceday only played a small part in how VGA could benefit from the sponsorship, though.
Join us to learn how he strategically integrated a spot on a race car to benefit for years to come!
I first met Charlynda just after the shutdown began. She had a newborn, her new business Mutt's Sauce had just tanked because of a distribution snafu, and she was newly divorced.
She was at rock bottom but determined not to stay there. She told me at the time, "My rock bottom has a trampoline."
Fast forward and Charlynda is flying sky high with her new book, Rock Bottom Has a Trampoline, launching later this month.
She and Mutt's Sauce have been featured in Yahoo! Finance, NPR, Forbes.com, QVC, Men's Journal, CBS News, NBCUniversal, Black Enterprise Magazine, and Military.com, among others.
Charlynda was also featured in FUBU Founder and Shark Tank investor Daymond John's bestselling book, POWERSHIFT.
She's founder and CEO of Mutt's Sauce LLC and OH Taste LLC; Director of the OH Taste Foundation (501c3), and creator of The Empower Collection.
A TEDx speaker, she currently sits on the board of Bunker Labs, Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings, and Dayton Convention and Visitors Bureau. Charlynda is a Gold Award Winner and has a Lifetime Membership to Girl Scouts of the USA.
Her talent is cultivating influential people by meeting them where they are in life and business. Her military career spans over 15 years; she's currently an Air Force Reservist stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
All of this and her son David is, in her opinion, her finest achievement.
This is a don't miss episode for anyone who needs encouragement and a reminder that they're not alone. And that's everyone!
"This is what it’s all about: partnering with companies, philanthropists, and fans to help veterans and military families live the life they deserve."
Stay tuned for how you can be part of the mission!

Are you going crazy trying to identify a profitable niche? You can find rich, untapped markets just by spotting where your own culture is being overlooked.
Basi White did exactly that. He never saw Black superheroes in the comics world, so he started the first Black-owned comic production company in Iowa.
Basi, born as Aniekan, started off young and began writing in first grade. As he gained awareness of the travesties in the world around him, his writing began to speak to the issues he felt called to stand against. As a lover of science fiction and fantasy, he strived to speak on real-life issues through the medium of storytelling while also giving his fellow humans a world to escape into.
He married at 21 years old and soon after, he and his wife had their first child, Azriel, after whom the main character of his comic series is named.
Understanding the responsibilities of being a husband and father, he joined the Army National Guard as a Religious Affairs Specialist with the hopes of being able to help soldiers cope with life trauma both from military experiences as well as issues every human being faces.
Now he's partnering with pro race car driver Colin Garrett for his next exciting project.
Join us to dive into how your own culture can be a great niche, and find out what Basi's next project is!

In Japan it's called “ikigai” (life purpose) and in Costa Rica it's called "plan de vida" (life plan).
Whatever you call it, having a higher purpose is proven to contribute to personal health & longevity. Did you know your business can benefit from having a higher purpose, too?
Having a higher purpose in business helps motivate you when things get tough. It makes work more meaningful and inspires you to not quit.
I'm not talking about abandoning financial goals & being totally altruistic. You're in business and you need to make a profit. Your higher purpose might just be your family.
But it can also be a cause that you believe in. Selfishly, that can also help develop strategic partnerships and build passionate brand loyalty if your motive is sincere.
Stop paying lip service to what you think is important. Start being the change you want to see in your own life and in the world.
Let's talk about how you can develop a sincere higher purpose, ikigai, or plan de vida - call it what you want!
"I had a little career pivot last year - we'll call it a hiccup - that gave me the opportunity to find good in a seemingly negative situation."
This quote from a LinkedIn post by Jennifer Banton intrigued me because so many find it hard to find good, even in good situations.
Now Jennifer is joining the show to share her career journey, how she's managed to turn lemons into lemonade, and how she's built a business that reflects her own values and lifestyle.
With almost 20 years of experience in branding & packaging + roots as far down as prepress that stemmed into production, design and process development, there isn’t a phase in the CPG (consumer packaged goods) product & packaging development process that she hasn’t experienced.
Add in her curious nature with technology, hunger for consistent improvement, and desire to build authentic relationships and you have a right & left brained leader who has proven difficult in her career to give a job title to!
After many pivots throughout her life & career, Jennifer is now living a dream as a Co-founder of Lucid Studio, a branding and packaging design agency, and leads Account Strategy & Operations… amongst doing many other things. She has blended her personal values and lifestyle with the clients and work they do – on a mission to always be of benefit to people, pets, and the planet.
