Congratulations to our 2021/2022 Academic Scholarship winner Miss Madison Lewis. Madison is the grand daughter of Brother Len Lynch and his wife Julia. Attached you will find a brief write up on Madison on her future academic plans.

I attended Father Leo J. Austin Catholic Secondary School from September 2017 to June 2021 where I achieved honor roll status each year after maintaining an academic average above eighty percent. Upon graduation, I received the Father Austin Fine Arts Music Bursary Paul Caley Memorial Award in recognition of my contribution to the instrumental music program, and the Holy Family Knights of Columbus Council 8309 Bursary in recognition of my contribution to the Catholic dimension of the school community.
While attending high school, I volunteered as a leader at the Holy Family Parish youth groups for youth in grades three to eight which provided me with the opportunity to volunteer at a sleepaway camp for youth group participants across the Greater Toronto Area. I also volunteered as a member of the Teen Advisory Group at my local public library branch and a virtual french tutor with Canadian Parents for French.
At school, I was involved in the Junior Concert and Senior Concert and Jazz Bands for which I played the French horn. I was also a member of the Mental Wellness Club which worked to promote positive mental health in the school community.
I am currently a first year student at the University of Toronto Scarborough, studying in the Co-operative Psychological and Health Sciences admission category. I'm planning on specializing in either psychology or neuroscience and pursuing research and work opportunities in the field through my university's co-operative education program. After earning my Bachelor of Science degree, my goal is to attend medical school to work towards a career in child and youth psychiatry.
Upon admission to the University of Toronto Scarborough, I was offered a University of Toronto Scholar and a University of Toronto Scarborough Admission Award for academic achievement in secondary school."
