Kano to incorporate Emirates in sectoral development-Garba
The Kano state government has said that with the consolidation of the four new Emirates in the state, the stage has been set for the incorporation of the traditional institution into its sectoral development programmes to accommodate the overall socio-economic needs of the people.
The state commissioner for information and internal affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, stated this in a statement, in reaction to a plan allegedly being hatched by the opposition New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to sack the new Emirs if it assumes power come 2023.
He said since the new Emirates were created to make the institution stand the test of time and move in the same pace with the global world, the All Progressives Congress (APC) government would make the monarchs stakeholders in the implementation of its development agenda.
Malam Garba stated further that tthe APC government plans to make the new Emirates add value to its various development programmes such as health, agriculture, youth economic empowerment, Free and Compulsory Basic and Secondary Education, scholarship programmes and various human development initiatives embarked by the administration in the state.
The commissioner explained that the unprecedented development in Kano ignites the administration’s desire to support the development of mini cities in the state to complement the emergence of Kano as Mega City, as witnessed by the ongoing plans to bring about urgent development in the headquarters of the Emirates.
“Apart from the construction and upgrading of four health facilities in the newly created Emirate headquarters of Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye to be fitted with state of the art equipment and construction of road networks, the private sector participation in the development of the new Emirates is also in the offing.
Many banks, entrepreneurs and small-scale industries have indicated strong interest to make a huge presence, while others have pledged to undertake some development programmes in the form of Corporate Social Responsibility,” the statement added.

2023: Kano APC mobilises one million youth against inconclusive election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state is mobilising over one million youth across the 44 local governments particularly in the metropolitan areas to prevent the repeat of the 2019 inconclusive election in the state.
Spokesperson for the Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council and commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said in a statement that the APC wants to ensure that the 2023 governorship contest is concluded in the first round of the election.
He stated that in 2019, members of the leading opposition party then, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), most of them now in the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), perfected electoral malfeasance that led to the declaration of the election as inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
"On the day of the election, members of the opposition mobilised it's youth in the early hours of the day who engaged in massive vote buying, over voting, vote stuffing and even violence particularly in the metropolitan local government areas of the state.
In many polling units, the ballot boxes were found filled with ballot papers, some forcefully snatched from INEC staff or received from officials sympathetic to the opposition.
After counting, most of the boxes were found to have contain ballot papers higher than the number of registered voters in the units. That was why INEC declared the election inconclusive," the statement added.
Malam Garba noted that the opposition's orchestration of rigging machine was so glaring in the 2019 governorship election that in some polling units no voter has the courage to cast his or her vote secretly, talk less of voting for his choice other than the PDP then for fear of intimidation.
He said the massive rigging could also be seen vividly in the first round of the election, when PDP then failed to win any seat outside the areas they perfected the rigging except in two places one of which later decamped back to the APC.
The campaign council spokesperson pointed out that the APC has learnt that the leading opposition party now, the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), is planning to operate yet another rigging machine considering it's daily loss of membership and the apparent utter hopelessness to win the 2023 governorship election.
"We understand that because of the apparent loss of hope and fear for failure, their state of despair has reached the extent that they are now considering working with another opposition party to contest election with the APC," he stated.
Malam Garba further explained that what the ruling APC has done in the last seven years in terms of development programmes such as healthcare, youth and women economic empowerment, economy, rural transformation, water supply were enough to deserve continuity.
While further enlisting the support of the people of Kano to support the APC for the continuation of it's laudable development programmes, he said the administration of Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna would consolidate on the achievements of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Malam Garba pointed out that the APC would resist and dismantle all rigging machines to be perfected by the NNPP and checkmate plot to manipulate or highjack the electoral process.
He charged members of the APC, teeming supporters and true democrats in the state to remain steadfast in resisting the NNPP and it's manipulative tendencies.

Attack: APC wants arrested NNPP thugs investigated The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state has called for proper investigation by the state police command currently holding in its custody, two members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Imam Dayyabu and Nasir Sani for leading other party members to attack people and destroy APC campaign properties on Saturday and Sunday at Galadanci Quaters in Gwale local government area of the state.
The ANPP, which made the call in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council and commissioner for information and internal affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, said the thugs brandishing dangerous weapons, caused confusion resulting in many people sustaining variuos degrees of injury.
Malam Garba pointed out that the ugly trend portends danger for the state which is enjoying relative peace in the recent time and facing elections at various levels.
The commissioner said the attack followed a trek in the area by the NNPP gubernatorial candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf accompanied by maltitude of thugs after attending a wedding fatiha in the area.
He said it was unfortunate that after the incidence, Yusuf was heaping blame on the APC and even calling for the arrest of its chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas. Malam Garba accused the NNPP of engaging in wild propaganda, cooked up tales and deliberate falsehoods in order to create chaos and undermine the forthcoming general elections.
The commissioner also condemned the provacative statement by the NNPP chairman, Haruna Umar Doguwa for making personal attack and hate speech capable of causing violence in the wake of the weekend incident.
The commissioner noted that mass defection from the NNPP and the apparent achievements of the APC in Kano is giving the opposition a sleepless night which stands it a better chance of winning elections.
He also appealed to members of the APC to remain calm and always be law abiding as the party continues to win the heart of the people of Kano and swims to victory in 2023.

Ganduje not fingered in EFCC report, KNSG avers, demands apology from Sahara Reporters
Kano state government has condemned in strongest terms insinuation by an online publication, Sahara Reporters that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is one the three governors fingered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as having stashed away funds in their houses.
A statement by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba indicated that while the anti-graft agency did not mention the identity of the governors, Sahara Reporters went ahead to make such false reference.
He said the report which lacks texture for an investigative story was either the imagination of the publishers or a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the governor.
Malam Garba pointed out that Governor Ganduje has not acquired the billions of naira stashed away funds involved that could be used to engage in the dreary process of table payment of workers’ salary in this era of e-banking services.
The commissioner added that Kano has been one of the few states in the federation that consistently pays its workers’ salary, even as at the time of the release of the false report by Sahara Reporters, posting of the October salary had commenced.
He therefore called for the retraction of the story and an unreserved apology from the publishers, failure of which the state government would not hesitate to take legal action.

Don't allow Kwankwasiyya capitalise on our minor crisis, Kano APC warns members
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state has accused the opposition members of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) Kwankwasiyya group of capitalising on a minor disagreement in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to cause disaffection.
It said while the disagreement had been amicably resolved by party elders, the Kwankwasiyya, which is intimidated by the strength of the APC in the state, is engaging in propaganda to overblow the situation out of proportion.
The note of warning to the APC members was disclosed via a statement issued by the commissioner for information and spokesperson for the Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council, Thursday.
He said there is credible information that the group is even engaged in the destruction of posters and other party's identities, using the matter which has already been resolved as smokescreen and in the name of disagreeing parties within the APC.
Malam Garba pointed out that in the last few days, the Kwankwasiyya has been sharing pictures, giving negative meanings to them all in futile attempt to discredit the ruling party in the state.
The commissioner further noted that while the party is entitled to its share of intra-party discord which is common in all parties, such should not be allowed to be used by the opposition to further forment trouble for the party.
He said as the nation heads toward election year, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna want members of the party to remain steadfast and maintain its unity to continue in the path of apparent victory and dominance at all levels.

Shun over voting, massive rigging , vote stuffing to avoid repeat of inconclusive election -Garba tells NNPP
Kano state All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that for the avoidance of the recurrence of the inconclusive election in 2019, the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) should avoid repeating over voting, massive rigging, vote stuffing and unleashing violence that resulted in the cancellation of some results from the governorship election.
The reaction is contained in a statement issued by the state commissioner for information and spokesperson for the Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council, Malam Muhammad Garba, in response to a comment attributed to the NNPP in Kano in which it vowed to resist the repetition of supplementary election in the 2023 governorship election.
He noted that the opposition, which was then in the People's Democratic Party (PDP), operated a massive rigging machine that led the declaration of the 2019 governorship election by the Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) as inconclusive.
Malam Garba stated that when the PDP rejected the outcome of the election, it pursued the legal option right from the state Election Petition Tribunal, the Court of Appeal, up to the Supreme Court, all of which affirmed Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the duly elected governor.
The commissioner stated that the NNPP is avoiding issues based campaigns but indulging in brinkmanship on matters settled by competent courts of law.
The commissioner said the comment by the NNPP, which came on the heels of recent analysis that rates its candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf number three in the contestants for the office of the governor, pointed out that the streak of the APC candidate, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna in terms of quality, caliber, qualification, experience, perseverance and human relations posture of the APC candidate, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna is unmatched by any other candidate.
He said APC and its candidate have what it takes to win the election as it fielded its contender based on merit not mawkish reasons, saying, its candidate relates well and is presentable before the people of Kano.
