Camp Kitten
An animal rescue in Andover, MN, helping to save lives.
Things have been busy, but I owe you an update on these two:
🐾 Eugene’s dental cleaning is next week! He has so much calculus (aka hardened dental plaque) covering much of his teeth, it’s hard to determine how many extractions he may need until they can clean those up. He also had low thyroid levels on his pre-dental bloodwork, so we’ll be running additional tests to get to the bottom of that. But it’s one more unplanned expense.😭💵
🐾Simba is doing FABULOUS and has his recheck (exam & chest X-rays) at the U of M next week. Hopefully the brace can come off!!🤞
If all goes as planned, they’ll both be available for adoption shortly after!🙌🙌
As per usual, we could use help on these vet bills, so if you are able, donations are appreciated!!💞

Look who moved in: Simba’s brother, Mufasa! I’m hoping they don’t play so rough that I need to separate them for Simba’s recovery, but he has been lonesome and I think having his brother will be good for him.💙
They both go into our vet tomorrow morning for their rabies vaccines and a quick exam. Only two more weeks of the brace!!
Teeny Eugeney (*less* teeny - now up to 4lbs!) had his exam/bloodwork competed today, in advance of his dental cleaning. The doctor at AHS agreed that his dental disease is severe and he will likely need some extractions, so I think he’ll feel SO GOOD after we get all that bacteria out of his mouth!
He’s scheduled for his cleaning later this month - then will be available for adoption!!🥹
You’ll never meet a sweeter boy!🥰 Simba purrs and head butts his way through each day, despite his challenges. He loves humans, cats, dogs….everybody is a friend. I am *so grateful* to all of you who donated to give this boy a full life. (I’ll update on donations/bills soon!)
My two male cats are pretty smitten with Mama Harriet.🥰 Here are some sweet photos of Viper (last years’ sickest foster kitten, who never left☺️) and Harriet.
She really has staked her claim on the porch - even on the 90 degree days, she snoozes away under the ceiling fan. 🔥
With the departure of the 🐶 , we opened up a room for Simba! The XL dog kennel was just too restrictive. The catch, though, is I had to remove allllll of the cat trees, since he can’t jump/climb during his recovery. But I think this will be a good space for him to learn to navigate! (Don’t judge the rug - it’s been rolled up in storage for a long time, so needs to flatten out.🙃)
Look who found their forever home together!!💞
Shep & Frenchie are moving a few miles north today, to their new home with *three* sweet little (human) girls, who will get to grow up with these boys!☺️ The kids were so excited & engaged at the meet & greet, I just know they’ll give these guys all the love & attention they so desperately want.🥰
It was a journey, with this crew, but the outcome of them all landing in loving homes makes every ounce of effort worthwhile!🥹🧡
Day 2, post-op: this is going to be hard!😭
I know he needs a little time to adjust to his new normal. And I keep reminding myself this is *one month* of discomfort so he can have a lifetime of good living! We can do this, Baby Simba!!!!🥺💙
Simba is adjusting to his new “bodysuit”.😄 (He’s also feeling loopy, post-anesthesia.🤪)
He moved to Andover, so I can see him through his recovery. We’ve got him set up in a large dog kennel, so he doesn’t get too crazy while he recovers. His post-op X-rays look great! The DVM was really happy with everything today, so I’m feeling very good.
More updates tomorrow!💚
We’re still waiting on his dental cleaning, before he can be available for adoption, but whoever does adopt Eugene will be soooooo lucky. He is such a sweet little snuggler. He wants to be with his human 24/7, but has been doing so well with potty training (post-neuter) and loves being with other dogs and cats. I’m just smitten with .🤩
Our sweet Simba is checked in (his foster mom had him there at 6:30am!😳) and ready for surgery. We’ll update later today. We are SO hopeful for sweet Simba’s prognosis!!🧡💙
THANK YOU to everyone who donated!!! I cannot express my gratitude enough - YOU are saving this boy’s life.🥹
Another big push, knowing tomorrow is the day that Simba receives his lifesaving surgery at the University of Minnesota!! We are so hopeful this will improve his quality of life and give him the future he deserves!!🧡 Any donation amount helps us get closer to our goal!!

Mufasa noticed all the social media posts about his brother, Simba, and requested a lil’ attention for himself.😂
This beautiful boy is still looking for his forever home! Apply on campkitten.com!
The first of the 🦁 has departed!! Sweet Nala is going to be adored and spoiled in her new home. Surrounded by cats, dogs, and kids - oh my!😊 She will never get bored and will always know love.
I know this was a hard goodbye for her foster mom, but we are so grateful for the great care she received while she was a Camper!🥰
Simba had his Pectus Excavatum surgery consult at the University of Minnesota today. We all agreed he needs surgery for a chance at a good quality of life. Because time is against us, as his bones solidify with age, we are moving forward with surgery this Friday!! 😮 They will fit him for a plaster vest (essentially a cast) that will attach to threads that they feed into his chest cavity and literally pull his sternum & rib cage into place. He will wear that for 4-6 weeks and hopefully be a brand new boy!!!
We certainly haven’t reached our fundraising goal, but every dollar between now & Friday helps (and reduces my gray hairs😂).
Please donate & share!!!!

Friendly reminder that Shep & Frenchie are still looking for their forever home as a bonded pair! These boys are SO social, playful, affectionate, and - dare I say - nearly ✨perfect✨?☺️ Apply on campkitten.com if interested in meeting them!🧡
We wanted to help spread this highly educational post.😸 It’s important information for the general public to know.
Monday morning fundraiser update! We raised nearly $600 over the weekend!🙌 Simba has his Pectus Excavatum surgery consult tomorrow - the more he grows, the higher his risk, since his sternum and ribs are compressing his heart & lungs. So we’re hopeful he can get this surgery very soon. But we need your help first!! Please donate, share, and help us save little Simba!!🧡

It’s PomPom’s turn! She is packing her bags and departing Camp today. She’s moving to St. Paul where she’ll learn to properly *cat* from her new big feline sister.☺️ Shep & Frenchie will miss her, but she is going to love her new family!!🧡
Harriet’s just glad that she’s no longer the most expensive / highest maintenance foster pet at Camp Kitten anymore.😂
(See previous post to help us out!!!💰)
The hits keep on comin’!!😞
We’ve known all along Eugene will need a dental cleaning - and likely some teeth extracted. Pretty typical for a small dog who’s never had their oral health addressed. But it ain’t cheap!
And *now* we’ve also got Simba, our 12-week old kitten, who was diagnosed with Pectus Excavatum yesterday. This means his sternum and rib cartilage did not properly form. His case is severe and without corrective surgery, he may not make it to adulthood, as his heart and lungs are, essentially, being crushed. We have a surgery consult next week, but truly will need to act quickly to save his life.🧡
On top of all this, we covered costs to have Simba’s mom spayed today, so she doesn’t continue to add to the kitten overpopulation. But it was just one more expense from a very low bank account.😬
Please donate & share!!!!

Teeny Eugeney went into the vet for his distemper booster this morning. He did great and is now back in his cat bed, next to my desk, recovering from the excitement.💙
Next up: he has an exam scheduled at , ahead of his dental cleaning!🪥🦷
A friend told me she heard a radio ad about Uno being KS95’s “Pet of the Month” for June! I checked their website and, sure enough…there’s our girl!💙😜
She is thriving in her new home and doesn’t even know she’s a local celeb.😁
When your cat is literally 5-times the size of your foster dog.😂😂
Trygve is my gentle giant.💞 And he loves Eugene.🥰
Harriet sure has discovered the porch to be her favorite room!! I keep the windows open and the ceiling fan going (there’s a cat door for access) and she is in heaven on these warm, sunny days, watching the deer, birds, chipmunks, and turkeys.☀️
My other cats filter in and out to hang with her, and I pop in for pets & playtime, but she seems so content; I couldn’t be happier.💞
Harriet & her kittens ended up being a very expensive crew…and obviously won’t result in any incoming adoption fees.💔 If you want to help with her previous vet bills and ongoing hospice foster care, it would be amazing.

My own pets, Morty, Ruthie, and Viper, were so happy to have Eugene back home - and are keeping a close eye on him during recovery.🥰😍
(The 🦁 bounced right back after surgery and are running amok around their foster mom’s home!😂)
Eugene & the 🦁 are all in for their sterilization surgeries today! As always, we can use your help in financing the (nonstop🤪) medical bills, if you’re interested in helping out!!🥰🥰
