The thing about arguments

When two people have a heated discussion about an issue, one of three things could be happening:

1. One of them is wrong. At the moment, each of them is sure that the other person is the one who’s wrong.

2. Neither of them is wrong. They’re arguing about something where right and wrong are relative, based on perspective. Or, perhaps…

3. They’re both wrong.

The thing is, our certainty of rightness is what makes heated arguments heated.

Given how unlikely it is that we’re always right and they’re always wrong, the heated part of the conversation is probably worth avoiding.

Before you can begin to work on what you disagree about, you each benefit from working on the ‘heated’ part.

Hello Friends. Thanks so much for the 13 of you that have joined this page. I am working my way through the Facebook Alphabet of friends and carefully selecting just a FEW that I believe will support me in my journey toward being a successful Author. Thank you in advance. For now this page is to set the stage and as we get closer to publishing, I will begin to post more excerpts. I WELCOME your feedback on those. TELL me if it's "too snarky" or "too much detail" or "not enough detail", etc. Thank you.

It's been awhile. I am done writing the book and am in the editing stage. I am looking for a few volunteers to read and give feedback on the whole book or individual chapters. I want you to be tough. When I send to the "professional editor" I want them to say "Holy Moly, I can't find anything but this missing comma!" :)

Have about 15,000 pages of the book written now. One more chapter and edits and I'll have a first draft. WAY more personal stories in it than thought there would be for a business book.

Chaos with Intent

But breakthroughs, creativity and human connection don’t come from predictability. They come from unpredictable interactions with unknown ideas and voices.

Just about all bestsellers are surprise bestsellers. All big ideas come out of left field. But if you spend your time looking at left field, they’ll come out of right field instead.

Chaos is uncomfortable, particularly if you’ve been indoctrinated in the industrial mindset. But if the right people and the right conditions are present, chaos creates possibility.

Do it with intent.
