I don't always make a 2019 reading list, but when I do, I share it on Facebook. Thanks Tess Woods for including Heart of the Cross on your list for 2019!
I averaged just about a book a week with my reading list this year with a total of 48. And I’m proud to say that 36 of those books were written by Australian female authors.
If you like to buy local when gift giving at Christmas, please don’t forget to include books by Australian authors on your list! We’re competing against global giants like the Stephen Kings and James Pattersons of the world.
Before anyone notices and asks why, I’ll explain that I’m promoting only women writers in this list because it’s harder for female authors to get the sales that men do. Generally women are more likely to read books by both male and female authors but men tend to mostly read books written by male authors. (I’m not saying all men do this all the time, so for Pete’s sake please don’t message me to protest🙃!)
If you’re looking for Christmas gift ideas and you want to support local female writers, this is my list of Australian female authors whose books I read in 2019 and that I personally and very and extremely muchly recommend!
And while you’re at it, please buy from your local bookstore this holiday season. We want our independent book stores to stick around for many years to come to keep our industry alive ❤️
