Hiiii frens!!!
Does anyone have a countryside living kinda vibe going on that I could come and stay at from the 3rd - 7th of Jan roughly? I'd like to have a musical retreat and write/finish lots of music I'm working on and it'd be great to get away for some walks etc. I'd mostly just be in headphones recording/editing s**t. Lemme know! Would be happy to contribute some money your way for expenses/other bits and bobs. Just trying to save from Air BnB prices.
Big love π

Greenness Message from the Ravens
Throw back to 5 years ago supporting and performing with The Undercover Hippy at Komedia Brighton !! Such a banging night and a lil teenage dream come true :) β€οΈ
Reminder: if you have an artist friend who is "doing well" or being "successful" it's not just because they're "talented." Talent is a tiny, pretty insignificant sliver of the picture. It's primarily because they have worked their arse off and not given up on themselves depite the voices in their head saying "you're not good enough" or the narrative from society saying "art isn't a real career."
Successful artists are hardworking, resourceful and resilient as hell. If you know someone who is an artist and you wish to be like them but tell yourself you can't because you're not talented enough, try to flip those thoughts into inspiration for hard work, practice and dedication.
I often have people say to me "how do you stand so comfortably on a stage in front of so many people?" "You're just naturally good at it!"
Absolutely not. That's a narrative you tell yourself to put up walls and prevent yourself from trying. I tell them "I started by showing one friend my song. Then two, then three, and slowly but surely started to build up confidence. Then I went to lots of supportive open mic nights and performed to small groups of people. Then I went busking and built up my resilience and self-belief in what can be a volatile environment. I built up my emotional and mental callouses over years and years."
When complimenting an artist, or anyone else who is succeeding in their chosen way, think about complimenting them for their hard work, dedication and resilience. Those kind of compliments hit the deepest for me and remind me to keep going.

Shambala Festival... You came and slayed my heart π§‘
I've been performing under my stage name of ASHKAT for only a few months and have been working out what my new vibe/energy on stage is and nothing has fit or felt quite right... Until now. For the first time in years I felt like the best version of myself on stage and like I was able to communicate my entire being through my music (which is why I followed a career in music in the first place!) and it should come as no surprise that this was at Shambala. I truly have all of you to thank for it. Even if you weren't present at my gig, I spoke to so many of you, danced with you and lapped up your gorgeous energies for 2 entire days before my performance on the Enchanted Forest stage on Saturday afternoon and all of that tasty, shiny, kind, vibrancy I soaked up shone out of me while I was performing. I honestly can't thank you all enough for the experience of a lifetime. I've been performing for over 15 years and I truly believe this was my favourite show of all time. Thank you for allowing me to bring the most vulnerable and silly parts of myself to the stage. Thank you for helping me find my feet and my new self within my new music. I will truly carry your energies from that performance to all of my gigs.
I have always said and always believed that performing is a 50/50 shared experience between the performer and their audience. It's not just "a really great musician standing on a stage impressing everyone." It's a back and forth experience of giving and receiving and it goes both ways.
Extra special thank yous to Morgan Robinson and the Enchanted Forest team for being as warm, kind and welcoming as always and for inviting me to perform on the most epic Treehouse stage where I lived out my ethereal goddess fantasy.
Thank you to everyone who took photos and videos, please send them over if you can to [email protected] . I would be hugely grateful!
Until next year my incredible Sham-fam,
ASHKAT.
So the exciting news is, ya gal is playing at on Saturday at 4:30 in the Enchanted Woods so please come down to watch if you're Shambling around that day!! Absolutely hyped to be playing back at my favourite place!!
I want a write a shout out to the incredible Sia (singer).
I have so much respect for an artist, particularly a woman, who doesn't have to dumb herself down or make her lyrics more juvenile in order to stay relevant.
So much of mainstream music and lyric writing is so vapid, carefully constructed and unsubtly gift-wrapped to simply regurgitate whatever themes are socially popular and acceptable at the time, taking no real risks and showing no true artistry.
I see women in their 40s writing lyrics that appeal to teenage girls and a teenager's state of mind. Sloganistic phrases and ideas lacking any nuance or depth.
I am so grateful to be able to listen to inspirational songwriters such as Sia who aren't afraid to explore more emotionally mature, nuanced topics that I connect to more deeply and she does with such grace and skill that her songs are still catchy and accessible to mainstream audiences.
I've been writing songs for over 15 years now and my lyric writing style has grown and evolved dramatically. Sometimes we can be tempted to take the 'easy route' and write about popular ideas and opinions but I truly get the most out of my writing and performing when I delve deeper into myself and find the more complex, juxtaposing feelings that are more difficult to put into words or explore but when I do I find so much more peace within myself for trying to unravel these experiences into music.
Huge big ups to this woman. I can't encourage enough for people to really listen to and dissect her lyrics. I've been especially obsessed with 'Fair Game' recently in which Sia explores the lack of balance that can exist in a relationship. Give it a listen π
, you were the biggest treat as always! Its always so exciting waiting for the photos from and this one is from the incredible . I have two festies left for this summer season! Announcements coming soon!! π₯
Want to send all my favourite people love and fun at this week. There so many incredible artists going it will be a right treat! Have a gorgeous time and look after one another π
All of this. There's so many people who have so much to give and incredible things to say who get left at the wayside in conversation just because it's not in their nature to push themselves to the front or be "dominant". I personally find so much peace in spending time with more quiet-spoken people, who are often highly intelligent and perceptive as they spend more time listening and taking everything in!
Ask more questions, do more listening π€
Some shots from 's Living Room Shamans at last month.
I've performed on an assortment of stages. Large festival stages, clubs, pubs and the streets but there is something so special amount intimate gigs. You can feel people there right with you through every word, note and movement. I feel honest and raw and vulnerable and I feel the connection in return.
This was a truly special one where I started to open up more about the meaning and the stories behind the music I've been making. It helped me reflect and realise how deeply intimate and emotional this EP is. Probably the most intimate music I've ever made and I honestly cannot wait to share and solidify these songs in a place online we can always come back to. Nothing will beat live performance but having these songs so close by to listen to whenever you need them will help me let them go and release them into the ether.
Aaaaand that's a rap for the summer!!!!! Wow, what a whirlwind of a few months!!! Went out on an absolute high at 's Living Room Shaman's last night! We have been so blessed with all the incredible gigs we've performing at since coming together as a band. I'm also so excited to have some time off gigging in order to add more to the set! We've got some incredible ideas mixing and brewing so we will be back with more in September but more on that to come soon!
I want to say a huge thank you to all the promoters and venues who have invited us to perform, and everyone who has been at our gigs, old fans and new! (We had multiple reports of audience members crying at which I receive as the highest of honours!) I can't thank you enough for all the support and kind word and also the coining of the phrase "ASHKittens" for our fans! It's been such a journey seeing my ideas, music and projects grow the past 3 years. It's difficult to take a step back and admire the process but today I am feeling unbelievably proud and grateful.
And I wouldn't have had nearly as much fun without my gorgeous band members at my side, , and , you are my musical angels and i love you all so much!
Peace out from performing until August, but stay tuned for more updates and more songs on the way very soon!!
All my love,
ASHKAT.
For anyone else watching Black Mirror trying to work out why this song is nostalgic as f**k and why it reminds them of rabbits; you're welcome.
Also just wanna say this is still one of the most beautiful, emotional and haunting songs of all time. Cover version most definitely going to happen.

Hello summer ππ
Can't believe how soon this has come around, I'm back with my favourite festival fam on the Cirque de la Quirk stage in just 5 days!!
It will be my first time performance with our 4 piece band and absolutely cannot wait to share what we've been up to the last few months!
A lot of blood, sweat and tears have gone into this set and it's an honour to share it with you.
I've put so much of myself into my new sound and my lyrics which has been an extremely therapeutic process of self-discovery and letting go. I hope you can find some comfort of your own in the music in the same way that I do.
Love always,
ASHKAT.
