I would like to thank the Keep Soddy Daisy Beautiful organization that cares for our city and throughout Hamilton County for my award for helping and supporting this wonderful group of people. Their continued support helps keep our city beautiful. I went to show support to the organization at their annual Recognition Program and was surprised when they called my name for the
2023 The Litter Aficionado.

There is a young man Ryan Jenkins that has a page Concerned Citizens Of District 1. This young man is trying to let the citizens of Soddy Daisy and the citizens of District one that covers the north end of Hamilton County on what is happening in our local government. Please read, comment, share and like his page and what he posts. He wants to keep the people updated on what is going on in the north end of the county. Someone tried to get his page removed by notifying Facebook of false accusations he was accused of making. Facebook verified the that the individuals accusations were 100% false and his page was reinstated. Thank you Facebook for standing up for our younger generation. I stand behind Ryan's work 110% and believe in what he is doing to ensure the people know what our local officials are doing in our communities. I posted a picture of his page below.

The Soddy Daisy area is currently experiencing significant potential growth and development. It's essential to stay informed about what's happening and share your thoughts. City limits or not, it will somehow affect us all.

Today, I had a conversation that I greatly appreciate with Allen Jones of Stone Creek Consulting. For those needing a refresher, he led the meeting about the Green Pond Road development at Soddy Daisy City Hall. Allen was honest and reiterated multiple times that what the RPA planning commission voted on—where the rezoning was recommended with the terms of only 550 houses—was just a recommendation. Allen confirmed that next Wednesday (1-10-24) is when the Roads, Waste, Energy, Transportation, and Zoning Committee, made up of county commissioners, votes on the wording that will be presented to full County Commission body. The comment was made that the number could still be decreased to 400 or raised to 700, which is alarming considering the number could still greatly change when this committee votes on it. The following Wednesday (two weeks from now) (1-17-24) is when the final wording will go in front of the full commission body.

The Roads, Waste, Energy, Transportation, and Zoning Committee is responsible for developing and voting on the final wording next Wednesday (1-10-24).

Members of the committee include:
Committee Chairman: Mike Chauncey [email protected]

Lee Helton [email protected]

Steve Highlander [email protected]

Alternate Member Joe Graham [email protected]

The District One county commissioner is
Gene-O Shipley. You can email him with comments, concerns, and questions at [email protected]. Gene-O Shipley

The Soddy Daisy Fire Department's Christmas for Kids was a great success this year from all the help, support and donations made by the citizens in and around Soddy Daisy. The department was able to help parents buy clothes and toys to give to their children so they could have a Merry Christmas from all of your support. The department was able to give out toys at our Firehall #2 at soddy lake that were donated by a very special people that thought of others during these times. As you can see in the pictures all the toys we received and what was left after Sunday's giveaway. We had toys left over that we were able to give out to help additional kids have a Merry Christmas.

I would like to THANK Parkridge for selecting our city to build a 24/7 Emergency Room in Soddy Daisy. On Wednesday the Soddy Daisy commissioners, citizens and other dignitaries attended a hearing in Nashville to support Parkridge in getting approval to build the emergency room facility on Reco Drive near Hardees. The Tennessee Health Facilities Commission voted 9 to 1 for approval. Parkridge stated after the meeting that the facility would be ready to open by the end of 2023. It was a great day for the citizens of Soddy Daisy and the areas surrounding our city.
