Leaders, what’s the point of having influence and not use it for good causes, initiatives or to improve policies?
When you have the superpower to fly, why would you keep purchasing flights 🤷🏾♀️
Individual wellness is sooooooooo important!!!
Leadership wellness is sooooooooo essential!!!
Employee wellness is succcccccchhhhhh a major key!!!
Let's just start with more rest.
Let's start with pushing a workplace culture of wellness.
Well Well Well Saints!!!
It’s check in time when you are delivering second hand frustration and anger🙃
Who influences you might be influencing what you do
Yes, you took that course and class to be promotable or compete better however, what about the “WE”?
Leadership goes beyond what I can do for ME but what can I do for those connected to us or those who aspire to lead like us.
🛋️When did taking a lunch become problematic?
🛋️When did requesting leave become something that causes an eye-roll?
🛋️ Rest is a powerful tool that could rejuvenate a leader or team member.
Why???
Here are some areas REST can improve:
💡 Concentration
💡 Attention and reactivity
💡 Decision making
💡 Problem solving
💡 Learning and memory
💡 Creativity
💡 Coordination
What else is being missed because you won't approve their leave request or take some rest time yourself?
Shout out to the lunch break power nappers😁
Who have you placed a box?
Have you boxed yourself in?
Connection is powerful because it allows you to learn more about the leader or team member beyond the "hat" you see them wear for 8-12 hours a day.
What gifting are you missing out on because you choose to place individuals in a box?
Un-box me!!
Share if you have been surprised to learn more about someone, that you didn't know, that offered more context to the MORE they offer this world?
I’m 21 again 🥳🎉
Having a birthday correlate with a day many reflect on what they are grateful is such a blessing.
Another year of wonderful friends & family, lessons, growth, transitions and gratefulness.
Glory Be To God!!
Donate today!! Give today!! Love today!! Keep Hoping Today!! Serve & Honor today!!!
Thank you to my Chief (CMSgt Rodberg❤️) for the insight as a indigenous Air Force leader as well as Kelsey Ciugun Wallace (TikTok:) for this reminder and 5 things to do to support the indigenous community.
As leaders, expanding our worldview can aid in advocating, supporting and understanding the underrepresented in our workspaces.
Not everyone sees this day as one that is celebrated so take time to learn about the diverse groups of individuals that support those missions, programs and organizations you lead within.
🔸 Recognize and honor the Native lands you live on.
🔸 Uplift and celebrate Native voices every day.
🔸 Check in with your children's curriculum / teachers about teaching correct historical narratives.
🔸 Be intentional with how you spend your time as a family / community -- hold space for truth telling.
🔸 Support Native owned businesses, donate to Native organizations doing the work for our people.

Who are you voting for?
Not for a political election but for that open position you have or know of?
Would you choose relationship or the best person for the role?
If you had influence in a decision that could lead to your friend, family member or someone you really favor getting a great opportunity, would you choose them regardless of they are the “right fit” for that position?
As we enter another season for elections, an interesting case study has entered the fold where two individuals who have a relationship, Oprah Winfrey & Dr. Oz, find themselves navigating CHOICE.
Ms. Winfrey decided to choose a path that did not endorse a friend or associate but endorsed her values of democracy, community, compassion, and inclusion. While that does not mean that her friend/associate does not value the same things, Ms. Winfrey believed there was a better fit for leadership in Pennsylvania.
Leaders are faced with many of these decisions but do you base it mainly on favoritism (favored individuals), cronyism (friends), or nepotism (family)? OR Is it about who is the RIGHT FIT regardless of relationship but because of the “BIGGER IMPACT”?
Let's discuss this case study, the choices we make based on relationships, and what to consider when you have influence in who becomes that next leader.
COMMENT YOU BIGGEST TAKEAWAY!!

Let's take it back to the basics and learn why emotional management is so important.
Please note that the emotion is not what should be identified as "good" or "bad", it is how we respond to it.
For those who are hip hop fans like I am, Kirshnik Khari "Takeoff" Ball from the Migos lost his life, and while the details cannot be verified, there was a mention of some type of conflict.
I wonder the level of EQ used in that moment and what could have occured if the person who took his life responded utilizing what emotional intelligence offers.
Conflict occurs on the road resulting in road rage, and sometimes physical altercations but it DOES NOT have to end that way.
My goal is to circle back on the importance of emotional literacy that may not minimize conflict but it can minimize dangerous responses.

Leaders your influence on emotional literacy extends to every space you have an opportunity to be of service.
The home….
Your department….
Your business…..
Where you volunteer….
Our bias to a natural design that lives in our amygdala, creates an environment that fuels the false belief that how we are “feeling” and emoting must be hidden or pushed away. This then overloads our nervous system and our actions.
Performance, decision making, and production is now hindered that extends to our personal spaces and relationships.
Change agency lives also in EQ!!
Let your environments be the one that doesn’t fuel biases but dispels them.

Bias stretches beyond physical attributes.
It impacts how we see the trauma our dedicated team members and fellow colleagues are navigating.
Between 21-60% of victims of intimate partner violence lose their jobs due to reasons stemming from the abuse.
Studies suggest that there is a relationship between intimate partner violence and depression.
Victims of intimate partner violence lose a total of 8.0 million days of paid work each year.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, every employer should consider adopting a domestic violence workplace policy to protect their employees and their business.
There are security and liability concerns that impacts your greatest asset- THE PEOPLE.
The first step is assessing your bias and learning the other faces of abuse, and practicing check-ins with those who support your mission & vision. A simple, “how are you”, that is consistent, can go a long way.
Thank you for this conversation and your work in this area Dr. Kesslyn Brade Stennis!!

Leaders, you have created a story and made an assumption based on how someone emotes.
The expression of emotions can be similar for some and vary as well.
If someone cries, what do you assume? What ideas begin to populate in your mind?
Do you think sadness when they are actually disappointed or angry?
That is a possibility!!
The more we take time to ASK versus develop the story behing what we "see", you might be missing important information about what someone is experiencing and feeling.
There is alot of clarity through the power of the "ask".

October is Emotional Wellness Month and it’s time to embrace the fact that you, me we are ALL EMOTIONAL.
Following the unfortunate passing of the CFO of Bed, Bath & Beyond & many others, let’s look at this real life example to remind us that outside of who we are personally, we have to check-in with ourselves and others professionally as well.

Research has identified that when making decisions, we have a preferred “go to” process, which can be effective or ineffective given the circumstances and our audience. Let's discuss the importance of awareness about your decision-making preference, the challenges or blind spots of those preferences that could be hindering Goal Achievement.

Trauma and emotions in the workplace.....does it belong there?
In reality, both of those areas live among the walls of office buildings, virtual meeting spaces, and hybrid locations. What happens within the hearts and minds of leaders and staff members shapes the workplace experience, and YES leaders should be in the know of it.

Is there a personality hack that will help ANY leader be successful?

Our Purpose
Did you know that 38% of leaders fail within the first 18 months in the role?
Did you know most corporations lack diversity although diverse companies have been proven to be effective?
As a first time leader, I lacked the skills to be effective in supporting my teams. It was also noticeable that the rooms I was in lacked diversity, inclusion and equity (DI&E). Over time, I was lucky to learn some valuable lessons to become more effective for the teams I led and for my organization. I also learned how to navigate spaces where people did not look like me to excel in my career. Research shows that only 5% of companies have integrated leadership development within their corporations and our goal is to change that. It also has identified the lack of DI&E which can improve revenue and performance. To improve these areas, we aim to provide innovative tools to change the culture of companies, develop trendsetting leaders and high performing teams that people from all diverse backgrounds WANT to work for.
