Once the thrill wears off, all you're left with is a lifetime of prescriptions and medical interventions. Since the age of 12, I have lived a medicalized life due to my autoimmune disease. I would never wish this on my worst enemy...the doctor visits, hospitalizations, surgeries, prescriptions (some costing 10's of thousands of dollars), battles with the insurance companies, and all the stress and strain it puts on your life to stay on top of it all.
