Rowan's Purpose

Our hope is that awareness can save a baby's life Meaning the rate is steadily increasing as knowledge is not readily available.

To create educational resources for mothers throughout their entire pregnancy that expands on awareness of topics which are not focused on in doctors offices, and in mainstream pregnancy materials. Statistics:

Nearly 2 million babies, or one every 16 seconds, were stillborn in 2019

In the 1940s, improvements in maternity care resulted in a dramatic reduction in the occurrence of stillbirth; ho

BIG Update

Hello all, Rowan’s mama here,

For the first time since Rowan passed away I had strength enough to step into a hospital, and for good reason. My mom and I met with the team from Nyack Hospital that will be helping make our butterfly suite possible.

It was incredible to see a room of people that are all there because of my daughter. I was able to share my experience with them and we discussed various locations, plans and necessities for our special room.

You can still be apart of this amazing moment and donate- we hope to honor everyone who has contributed. https://gofund.me/2ddcbd03

Because of all of your generosity and love for my family and daughter, we are creating something beautiful. A safe place for loss families to face the hardest moment of their lives. It is a space that no one ever wants to be in, but as we all know, it is a space some families will need. We hope it will be a place that can limit the trauma loss families so often experience in hospitals and that it will encourage families to be together in a time of great sadness.

Thank you all for making this possible. More to come soon! It’s all happening and it warms my heart. ROWAN HAS A PURPOSE

Some items we discussed

-Extra large rooms with amenities that allow families to feel comfortable during and after labor

-Extra sleeping and eating space so additional family are encourage to spend time during this crucial time

-Extra large rooms with amenities that have the ability to hide necessary medical equipment so that during recovery families feel more “at home”

-Equipment and materials that will encourages longer bonding time with baby in an environment that feels natural and safe

-Larger beds to encourage couple/baby bonding

We continue to grieve the loss of Rowan, and are so thankful to everyone who has liked this page and donated to our her go fund me. We can’t wait until we can actively use this page for awareness and advocacy to make real change surrounding the topic of infant loss.
While this page has been silent we want you to know that every day, we learn more about what Rowan’s Purpose is. Right now, we continue educate ourselves about still birth, so we can properly focus our efforts to effect real change and make a difference.
We wanted to take this opportunity to share with you what has been going on behind the scenes.
1. We continue to raise funds for a Butterfly Suite in Rowan’s honor. We are looking forward to working with our Nyack Hospital on this endeavor. We are so very thankful to all of you who have donated. https://gofund.me/2ddcbd03
2. We have done a lot of research on other organizations and are excited to share that we are teaming up with PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy. To date, we have met with their Co-Director of Organizational Development, have registered to become “Change Makers”, and will be marching on 10/1 in NYC for awarness. I am developing a post for the page that will focus more exclusively on why we choose PUSH and what they do. but I encourage you to check out their website ESPECIALLY if you are pregnant, plan to be one day, someone you know/love is expecting, you are a parent, and/or you have experienced ANY kind of perinatal/neonatal/infant loss.
More to come soon

On July 26th, our daughter Felicia had to do the unbearable; she delivered our beautiful Rowan Mae, stillborn at 35.4 weeks. She had an easy pregnancy and the sonogram 4 days earlier was perfect. What we didn't know, and could not be seen in the sonogram, was that the umbilical cord had gotten tangled up between her legs, ultimately leading to her death.

We felt alone as a family in this situation, but quickly learned how many families this tragedy impacts. There are 24,000 stillbirths a year in the US, and over 4 million worldwide. While this type of tragedy cannot not be completely eradicated, there is work to be done to help families in similar situations.

In Labor and Delivery wards, most families who go through these tragedies, don’t have a safe space away from successful deliveries. One of our goals is to create Butterfly Suites in hospitals, which gives grieving families a safe space in hospitals to grieve, deliver, and spend time with their babies. We want to also create educational resources for mothers throughout their entire pregnancy that expands on awareness of topics which are not focused on in doctors offices, and in mainstream pregnancy materials. Our hope is that this awareness could potentially save a baby's life.

We are looking to raise funds to help bring this unbearable and truly heartbreaking experience to the forefront and comfort those families who share a similar loss with our family as best we can. By partnering with several organizations, we hope to impact as many families as we can. Knowledge is golden and our love is endless.
