Hello Everyone!!!
DID YOU KNOW?
The most commonly prescribed anticoagulant is warfarin.
Warfarin is given to people to lower their risk of getting blood clots and keep the ones they already have from getting bigger. People who have prosthetic (replacement or mechanical) heart valves, have had a heart attack, or have certain types of irregular heartbeats can all take this medicine. Warfarin is also used to treat or prevent venous thrombosis (venous swelling and blood clots) and pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs). Anticoagulants, also known as "blood thinners," include warfarin. It works by decreasing the clotting ability of the blood.

Hello Everyone!!!
DID YOU KNOW?
Penicillin is one of the most commonly used antibiotics, and it has a wide range of clinical indications.
As the world's first antibiotic, Penicillin changed the course of human history and paved the way for treating many bacterial infections. Penicillin is thought to have saved between 80 and 200 million lives. Without its discovery and use, 75% of today's population would not be alive because their ancestors would have succumbed to infection. Numerous illnesses, including pneumonia, scarlet fever, ear, skin, and throat infections, have all been treated with Penicillin.

Hello Everyone!!!
It's Feature Tuesday.
Even with female prejudice and financial hardships during the Great Depression, Gertrude Elion became known as the developer of medications used to treat previously incurable diseases. With this, she fulfilled her life's mission of easing human suffering. She led the way in devising a new, more scientific method for drug development, which forever changed and expedited medical research. Elion received the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine in 1988 for her contributions to drug discovery.

Hello Everyone!
It's and we will be debunking common medication myths!
Are you one of those who prefer to buy branded drugs over generic ones? If yes, then this one is for you.
One might think that branded drugs are more effective than their generic counterpart since generic drugs may look different and be significantly cheaper than branded drugs. However, the higher price of the medicine does not warranty an increase in efficacy. Though the names are different, generic and brand-name drugs work the same and provide the same benefits.
