Grateful for actions that speak louder.

Great news to hear the White House taking substantive action on the issue of gun violence in our country by establishing the first ever Office of Gun Violence Prevention. I look forward to seeing the new office maximize and optimize executive orders, expand gun violence community support systems and further engage with the students, activists, and families that played a key goal in its inception. Furthermore, I am so grateful to represent College Democrats on the national stage and look forward to the work that the Biden-Harris Administration are doing and will continue to do.

To God be the Glory.

People > Guns. Prioritize His Creation.

In these moments, I’m reminded of a specific Bible verse. James 2:14 which states that faith without works is dead, being alone. What that means is that every prayer uttered without any action taken to complement the prayer is dead on arrival and holds no power.

This week, the youth of North Carolina ( - - ) told their representatives and senators that we demand prayer that holds power, prayer that necessitates action. We insisted on public servants that will govern for their people, regardless of how politically beneficial governing is.

They said, Kema, ‘With everything that’s going on, Why on earth are you so optimistic?”
I say, I am optimistic because I know that progress is inevitable. It is unmovable. It is unshakable. And it is unwavering.
I’m optimistic because I know they can never win, they can only delay their loss.
I’m optimistic because I see the young people of my generation organizing college campuses across this state and across this nation, coalescing, training, and taking action on the issues that matter the most to us.

I am optimistic but I am not naive. We gotta turn out and show up where it matters most.
Show up at our schools, show up at our campuses.
Show up at our organizations and community groups.
Show up to our city halls, show up at our state capitol and show up at the polls in this election, the next election, and every single election henceforth now and forevermore.

We gotta show up and show out use our God given voice to stand up for what is right, call out their lies, uphold the truth and spread His love.

The change that we want to see, will not happen if we don’t work for it, if we don’t campaign for it, if we don’t lobby for it, I'd we don’t advocate for if we don’t vote for it. We, the young people of this state and the young people of this union, call on our current elected officials to do work to match your prayers or count your days in office.

Enough is enough.

North Carolina Family,

I am blessed and honored to be able to serve my home state and my home party as the new President of the College Democrats of North Carolina. I am so excited to create, mobilize and activate collegiate chapter and coalitions across all three regions. I look forward to working with and the leaders of the Young Democrats of North Carolina, the Association of North Carolina Teen Democrats, and, of course, and the other leaders of the North Carolina Democratic Party. I am so proud of my generation and our ability and willingness to advocate for the issues we care about most and I am excited to use our individual talents and combined strengths to educate our peers on our campuses and push North Carolina forward.

CDNC, we can and we must. Let’s expand our vision for what college democrats can do. Thank you for trusting me in this role and I look forward to doing the work to serve you.

All glory belongs to God.

Just the other day I was out in Miami…
🔱
Had the privilege of attending ΑΚΨ’s 61st Convention in Miami Florida this past week and it was such a great opportunity to relax, learn, meet new people, connect with brothers nationally, and get a better look at the international organization outside of my local chapter. I came away with insights, experiences, pictures, memories, and most of all, a stronger sense of brotherhood. Because of convention, I feel more squirted to serve the Chi Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi.

Congratulations to the new Fraternity President and Executive Vice President and a special thanks to all the people who helped to make my first ΑΚΨ convention a wonderful, engaging experience. Until next time. 🙌🏾

Free In Deed? Free Indeed.

Today, we celebrate the day Black Americans of Galveston, Texas finally found out they were slaves no longer, a message sent in 1863 but received two years later.

Happy Juneteenth and Happy Freedom Day to all.

PHinally PHree...

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade
And YET the menace of the years
Finds and SHALL find me unafraid

This charter has been years in the making and I’m so glad it finally came into fruition. From a persistent idea at a conference table to the newest fraternity on campus, I am grateful to God for this opportunity to cross at High Point University.
Furthermore, I am amazed at how much I’ve grown personally and we as a line have grown together from the process and am thrilled to see how we will continue to grow in the future.

Special thank you to the Kappa Lambda Alumni Chapter of Greensboro and it’s Advisory Team for allowing us the opportunity to open a new portal of ΑΦΑ at HPU. None of this would be possible without your guidance and dedication. Also, thank you to HPU leadership allowing this illustrious fraternity with our extraordinary institution.

Now that we are on the yard at HPU, we aim to spread our love for all mankind through leadership, brotherhood, academic excellence, service and advocacy. There is so much we have in store.

Congrats to the Xi pledge class for being newly initiated brothers of Alpha Kappa Psi at the Chi Rho chapter! I can’t wait to see what you twelve will accomplish in the brotherhood, on campus, and beyond.

Nothing spookier than a crooked politician

And to your left, you see the late and great King of Wakanda, T’Challa aka the Black Panther.

And at the end of the hall, you see our unironically overworked, underpaid front line worker who is currently being placed on the economic back burner!

Any questions?😁

Proof that ain’t no mountain high enough

I just want to give a huge thank you to all of the friends, brothers, family members, and strangers for your insurmountable support. This announcement has been 4 years in the making and it couldn’t have turned out any better. I feel as if a wait has been lifted off my shoulders. While I rest assured that I’m apart of a greater family and community that will stick with me through thick and thin, please do enjoy this montage of ΑΚΨ XP brothers hiking Hanging Rock Mountain!

I love you all.

Singing for 14 years and this is the first time I’ve worn a choir robe

Had a wonderful time singing at the grand opening of the Nido & Mariana Qubein Arena & Conference Center. Whether it’s Chamber Singers, Chapel Choir, or Genesis Gospel Choir, I’m just grateful I can continue to share this art with such phenomenal people.

As we enjoy this newly founded federal holiday, we remember the 4 million black Americans who, after centuries of trials and tribulations, went from enslaved to liberated while also holding our leaders accountable to continue that progress. Today, we are once again reminded that we must do what is right by God’s people, regardless of its popularity or convenience.

Happy and Happy everyone. God Bless.

As the sun sets on my first year of college, I reflect on the memories made and lessons learned while I plan and prepare, eagerly awaiting the future.

Thank you so much to everyone who made this year special! To the centennial class, it’s been a privilege to serve as your president this year and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to spend the next three (and four!) years at this extraordinary university with you.
