Intercessory Prayer against Selfish Ambition

Dear Heavenly Father,

We praise You because You are a Selfless God. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come. We bless You. Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created. Thank You for commanding us to say intercessory prayers on behalf of all people.

Lord, Thank you for helping us to understand that selflessness is loving other people – it is being patient and kind, it is not being envious of what other people have, it is not rude to other people. Being impatient, rude and envious are all signs of selfishness, because they put us first. Moreover, It is written, "For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice." (James 3:16).

Please purify Your children's hearts and minds, so their actions never come from jealousy, pride, anger, or bitterness. Help them bring to the cross their desire to do things out of selfish ambitions. I pray that they would desire to imitate you, Lord.

Prayer to Deny My Flesh

Dear Heavenly Father,

I praise you because your are the Almighty Sovereign God. I bless you. Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created. Thank you for commanding me to come to you with all that concerns me because you care about me.

Lord, you are so good to me. I don’t deserve your love and grace but I am so thankful for it. Your ways are higher than my ways and your thoughts are higher than my thoughts. Please help me submit fully to your lordship in my life. Give me the strength to resist the desires of my flesh.

Help me to deny myself, and relinquish all that I have, and all that I am for you. Destroy my attachment to this world so that I can fully rely on you in every situation.

I want to develop a strong relationship with you and to be your disciple. Help me to continue to pursue this goal every day, and to help others do the same. I give my entire self over to you Lord.

Prayer To Be Guided Into All Truth

Dear Heavenly Father,

I praise you because you are the truth. Thank you for commanding me to come to you with all that concerns me because you care about me.

I come to You in poverty of spirit, to seek Your face during a time when the truth of Your Word seems to be attacked on every side, and few seem to know or understand about the truth of Scripture. Father, it is sometimes hard to know what is true in a world when everything to do with God is being attacked, not only in the secular arena, but in many Christian ministries as well.

You promised that Your Holy Spirit would guide Your children into all truth, especially those that seek You with all their whole hearts and Lord, I want to seek You and know You more and more, but Lord, I do not want to be influenced by wrong doctrine or false teaching.

Keep me, I pray, and guide me in my life as I read Your Word and study the scriptures. Prevent me Lord, from being swept into the many false doctrines that are sweeping through Christendom today. Give me a discerning heart I pray, and help me to find a teacher that will teach me the whole counsel of Your Word of Truth so that I may grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
