In late 2017 I started gathering poems to put together for a chapbook I wanted to self publish.
In early 2018, my life started changing. I was in a "safer" place; I allowed myself to stop repressing emotions to function when things happened and in doing so, things that I'd buried clawed their way up to be recognized. I had no choice but to sort them, organize them, feel them again to understand them, and that chapbook turned into a full blown collection that I titled "Gods & Demons".
13-17 yr old me came alive in there; their heartbreak and pain were the stars of the show. I grieved with them. I raged with them. I questioned things with them. I also found a few smiles with them.
18-23 yr old me had a few things to laugh, cry, and wonder about, but weren't ready to share everything.
I put my most vulnerable younger selves in there and in the end, we learned our value, how to love ourselves and all our parts, and how to share them with those who are worthy of us.
Conversations Over Coffee is still in the works but coming soon- 18-23 yr old me were ready to share so some themes carry over from "Gods & Demons", but 24-now is loud and determined to make some noise.

I haven't been posting much of my online poetry here, it's all on Instagram, but this poem is from a workshop I participated in with the amazing Nikita Gill!
Her having complimented something I wrote was like a dream come true and I will never forget it🖤
