Happy 70th Birthday to my talented, kind and amazing cousin Carl Rogers! A musical genius and at one time, the musical director Gethsemane Baptist Church in Pleasantville. He was only 17 years old when he became the choir director and kept that position for a very long time. Blessings to you cousin Carl Rogers.

Pleasantville connection is called “The Price of Oil.”

Hello Pleasantville, many of you have received a text message stating that there is a home repair program for homeowners and for those who rent their homes. This is actually a “Pilot” Home Weatherization program and not a Home Repair Program. It’s similar to what the City of Houston has done in the past. This Pilot Program will target 450 homes/families throughout Houston/Harris County.
This first year Pilot Program will also target 25 homes in the same area to do minor home repairs. The scope of those home repairs will be determined at a later date and is on a case by case basis.

Please be aware that this weatherization program has other determining factors which include:
1) It is on a first come first serve basis
2) It is income based (criteria will be provided at a later date) and
3) You must not have participated in a weatherization program within the past 10 years.
4) You may not be eligible if you are participating in a GLO, City of Houston or any other rebuild program. *Eligibility will be determined case by case.

This program is a wonderful collaboration with CEER, Frontier Energy, Speer, Baker Ripley, and HARC. Civic organizations, which includes the Pleasantville Civic League will partner with CEER on engaging community.

The deadline to reach the target of 450 homes/families is the end of February, yet the program is rapidly reaching its number in only a 2 week time period.
